Children of Gaia
The Conscience of the Garou
The Children of Gaia stand as a paradox among their kin. While the Garou are creatures of Rage, this tribe seeks to be the conscience that guides that fury. They see Rage not as an end in itself, but as a powerful force of nature—like a tsunami or a wildfire—that can be redirected for a positive purpose. The Children of Gaia are the philosophers of the Garou, constantly asking "why?" and "to what end?" when other werewolves are ready to charge headfirst into a bloody conflict.
Their primary mission is to seek out and understand the mysteries and wounds of their namesake. A Child of Gaia is a problem-solver, but not with claws and fangs; their tools are empathy, intuition, and knowledge. They are drawn to enigmas, whether it’s figuring out the true nature of a trickster spirit, healing a literal wound on the land, or finding a solution to a difficult Umbral quandary. They are healers and mediators, looking into the details behind a political controversy or negotiating a fair deal with a territorial spirit. To a Child of Gaia, the world is not a list of facts but a myriad of questions to be answered, and the purpose of those answers is to fix a problem or heal a wound.
The Patron Spirit of the Children of Gaia is Unicorn, a mysterious and elusive being. Unicorn is a spirit of wonders and hidden places, and she is the perfect Patron for a tribe that seeks to understand the deeper truths of the world. Unicorn and her followers are associated with Wisdom, reflecting their deep insight and understanding.
A Child of Gaia gains Favor from Unicorn by seeking to understand how different beings relate to one another and by restoring things to their proper function. They can add a bonus die to any Awareness or Insight dice pool when they are trying to learn something about a person, animal, or spirit. This spiritual guidance fuels their quest for knowledge and harmony. However, Unicorn has a strict Ban that mirrors her forthright nature: a Child of Gaia cannot lie or misdirect for personal gain. If they do, they can only recover a single Willpower at the start of the next session, a severe consequence that ensures their motives remain pure.
Whether a pack’s Sawbones is patching people up on the fly using spiritual intuition, a Dealer is helping others on a journey of self-discovery through spiritual insight, a Wayfarer is traveling the borders between worlds, or a Miner is delving into Gaia’s physical wounds to find hidden truths, every Child of Gaia is dedicated to their tribe's core purpose. They are the Garou who choose to understand and to heal, reminding their kin that the war for Gaia is not just about howling, but about listening to her as well.
