Cold Crime Cases

Still unsolved to this day:

1. The Briarbrook Butcher (1988–1993)
   A series of grisly murders plagued Briarbrook, leaving farmhands and locals terrified. Victims were never fully recovered, and forensic evidence was scarce, as bodies seemed to vanish entirely. Rumors suggest that underground Pentex “biodefense research” may have been involved, though no charges were ever filed. Residents still whisper about “the one who walks behind the crops,” keeping children indoors after sunset.

2. The Hollowpoint Data Heist (2020)
   An elaborate corporate espionage scheme targeted Pentex’s AI labs. Hackers accessed sensitive data, resulting in unexplained employee disappearances and strange “digital hauntings” within the building’s servers. The case remains unsolved, sparking theories of rogue Garou involvement, Umbra exploitation, or Wyrm-tainted sabotage. Hollowpoint workers often recount unexplained system anomalies, perpetuating the eerie memory decades later.

3. The Spiritglass Disappearance (1996)
   A family vanished near Spiritglass Lake during a moonlit hike. No trace of their campsite or belongings was ever found. Rumors persist of their souls trapped in the Umbra, communicating cryptically via reflections on the lake’s surface. Garou occasionally investigate, fearing Wyrm corruption or a rogue spirit feeding on human fear.

4. The Grenbelt Poisonings (2012)
   Several eco-activists in the Greenbelt reported mysterious illnesses over a few months. Investigations revealed tainted soil and water, but no culprit was identified. Whispers suggest sabotage by Pentex front companies or fomori spirits attempting to destabilize Garou-protected territory. Locals still avoid certain paths in the forest after dusk.

5. The Halycon Assassination (1978)
   An outspoken city councilor opposed Pentex’s expansion in Halycon Park and was found dead on the steps of their mansion. Security footage vanished, witnesses’ memories conflicted, and no killer was ever identified. Some suspect Pentex manipulation, while others think the city councilor was involved in messy or shady buisnesses.

6. The Bloodless Corpse of Hollowpoint (2022)
   A young woman was found in her apartment, completely drained of blood, yet no wounds were visible. Authorities could not explain the scene, and the case went cold. Some people claim, that they had seen the woman together with a handsome man before she was murdered. The man could never be found.

7. Vanished in the Greenbelt (2007)
   Three children disappeared while playing near the deepest trails of the Greenbelt. For an entire week, the city searched in vain. They returned on the seventh night, well-fed and healthy. The kids could not remember where they were. Psychologists were baffled, but families relieved to get their children back safe and sound.

8. The Sleeping Families of Briarbrook (1986)
   On several farms in Briarbrook, 7 families fell into a constant, unbroken sleep for five months. When they awoke, none remembered anything, but subtle changes in behavior unnerved the neighbors: one could communicate with animals eeriely well, one family burned all their wheat fields and pumpkin fields down afterwards.

9. Iron Heights Vanishings (1994)
   A group of hikers climbing the cliffs vanished without trace. Months later, the blood stained and ripped clothes and backpacks of all climbers appeared on the ledge with faint claw marks on the nearby rock. The missing corpses of the climbers could not be found to this day though.

10. Spiritglass Reflections (1998)
    Several fishermen reported that the lake’s surface reflected things that were not there—faces of missing loved ones, shadowy figures lurking behind them. Soon after, two residents disappeared after walking into the lake at night, their bodies never recovered.
