Glass Walkers

The Technicians of the Urban Apocalypse

The Glass Walkers are the Garou who have fully embraced the modern world, not as a place to be shunned, but as a territory to be understood and conquered. While other tribes rely on primal instincts, the Glass Walkers use cleverness and tools. They are engineers, hackers, and inventors, masters of coaxing the spirits that inhabit technology—from computers and power lines to vehicles and security systems. They see the urban landscape as a new kind of wilderness, and they have adapted to thrive within it.

Since the Impergium, the ancient war between werewolves and humanity, the Glass Walkers have been different. They showed a sympathy for humans that others found shameful, helping them build defenses and settlements. While this has long been a source of mistrust from other tribes, the Glass Walkers are unrepentant. They believe it is foolish to deny themselves the advantages of human technology, seeing it as a powerful weapon in their war against the Wyrm. Their close ties to humanity mean that very few Glass Walkers are born of wolf stock; they are a tribe of urbanites. This reliance on the human world has led to a deep-seated fear that they are "losing the wolf," forsaking their connection to Gaia for something artificial. However, their pacts with a unique set of urban spirits remain strong.

These urban spirits are their key allies. Glass Walkers cultivate relationships with spirits of money, trash, and power grids—entities that other Garou would not even recognize. They can see the spiritual web that exists within the city's infrastructure, finding a new kind of Caern in a city's network or a spiritual ally in a building's security system.

The Patron Spirit of the Glass Walkers is Spider, a spirit of carefully constructed webs and interconnectedness. This patronage is often misunderstood by other tribes, who see it as a dangerous subservience to the Weaver. However, the Glass Walkers see Spider as a guide, teaching them to build things of lasting duration and effectiveness. Spider and the Glass Walkers are associated with Wisdom, using their knowledge to manipulate the unseen connections of the urban world.

Spider bestows a Favor upon its followers by helping them see the webs that connect all things. A Glass Walker can add a bonus die to any Technology or Science dice pool when they are building or repairing something. This spiritual guidance fuels their knack for creation and problem-solving. However, Spider has a strict Ban that reflects its nature: a Glass Walker cannot destroy any complex machines like vehicles or computers. If they do, they can only recover a single Willpower at the start of the next session. This rule forces them to be builders and fixers, not just destroyers.

Whether a pack’s Urban Planner is subtly guiding the flow of a city's people, a Car Liberator is freeing spirits from mistreated machines, a Detective is using their keen insight to untangle human cruelties, or a Tattoo Artist is both inking legends and gathering secrets, every Glass Walker is a master of their environment. They are the Garou who have found that Gaia's fight can be waged not just in the forest, but on the concrete streets and through the digital currents of the city as well.
