Impergium
The Age of Terror
@Garou history is a shifting tapestry of myth and memory, told through countless voices. Yet all agree that there was a time, long before written records, when the Garou ruled openly. Created by Gaia to stand at the apex of her defenders, they sought to maintain the balance between the Wyld, Weaver, and Wyrm — but humanity, the Weaver’s fast-spreading children, became a growing concern.
What began as stewardship turned into domination. The Impergium was an age when the Garou controlled human populations through fear, culling the weak or disobedient, demanding tribute, and shaping settlements to suit their will. Entire villages lived under the shadow of the moon, knowing that those who defied the wolves seldom survived. To some Garou, it was divine justice; to others, it became sport.
This reign left deep scars in humanity’s collective psyche, birthing the fear now known as the Delirium. Legends say humans discovered silver’s deadly effect — perhaps by their own craft, perhaps with supernatural aid — and, united, they struck back. Packs were hunted, and even the Garou felt fear.
The killing continued for generations until the Concord was forged: a pact to step back from humanity’s daily life and hide “behind the Veil.” The Impergium ended, but the damage endured. @Humans forgot the truth of werewolves, replacing it with superstition and half-remembered terror.
In the centuries since, some Garou have lived quietly among humans, others have raged against them, and many have turned their battles inward. The Triat’s imbalance worsens, cities rise, and the old sins of the Impergium remain — not forgotten, but buried under layers of myth, shame, and pride.
