Red Talons

The Howl of the Wild

The Red Talons are the raw, unfiltered fury of Gaia made flesh. They are the only modern tribe with a significant population of wolf-born Garou, a heritage that sets them apart from the tribes that have adapted to human society. They see the world not through the lens of human progress, but through the eyes of a cornered animal. Their Rage is not just at the Wyrm, but at humanity's relentless exploitation of the natural world.

While other Garou may protest or try to compromise, the Red Talons are a tribe of radical action. They believe that decisive, often brutal, solutions are the only way to save Gaia. They see human constructs as a cancerous sprawl, and they are willing to tear down cities and cull human populations to restore the balance. To them, tearing out the throat of a bulldozer operator is far more effective than challenging zoning laws. This brutal pragmatism often earns them a reputation as bloodthirsty barbarians, but to the Red Talons, it is simply a matter of survival.

They view the Weaver, the cosmic force of order and technology, as the primary enemy, believing its relentless expansion in the form of cities and civilization is what truly mutilates Gaia. This perspective is so radical that it borders on heresy even among other Garou. The Red Talons are often dismissed as revanchists who long for the days of the Impergium, a time when werewolves waged open war on humanity. To the Red Talons, however, this is not an act of malice but a desperate, final solution to a war that the rest of the Garou are losing. They believe that their struggle is the struggle of all Garou, a truth that their kin have yet to realize.

The Patron Spirit of the Red Talons is Griffin, a spirit who stands as an implacable guard against the Weaver's encroachment. Griffin and the Red Talons are associated with Honor, though it is an honor often lost on Garou who are mired in human society. To a Red Talon, honor is found in loyalty to the pack, protecting the wild, and never prioritizing human interests over those of animals.

Griffin offers a powerful Favor to his followers: the ability to fight ferociously against impossible odds. A Red Talon can add a bonus die to their Brawl tests whenever their health is below half, a gift that mirrors the last stand of a cornered animal. However, Griffin has a strict Ban that reinforces his philosophy of rejecting human complexity. If a Red Talon uses a dice pool related to human technology or science to repair or utilize something, rather than subvert or destroy it, they can only recover a single Willpower at the start of the next session. This rule ensures that their focus remains on the primal and the wild, never on the tools of their enemy.

Whether a Bounty Hunter is bringing back human runaways to a "menagerie" to keep the world safe, a Maneater is purging human hunters from the land, a Prepper is preparing for the collapse of human society, or a Plague Dog is spreading fear and disease among humans, every Red Talon is fighting a war of survival. They are the Garou who refuse to compromise, a terrifying reminder that the wild will not go quietly into the night.
