Silent Striders

The Nomads of the Apocalypse

The Silent Striders are the nomads of the Garou. They are wanderers by destiny, messengers, and news-bearers who are constantly on the move. Historically, the tribe was cursed by a powerful spirit, and as a result, they have been driven from their original homeland, forever seeking solace in migratory cultures and dispersed peoples. They have turned this curse into a strength, becoming the vital links that hold the tattered remnants of the Garou Nation together.

A Silent Strider’s arrival in a territory is always seen as a significant event, as they are almost guaranteed to carry news or a critical message. They are master travelers, adept at moving through dangerous landscapes and hostile territories, both physical and spiritual. They don't believe in a frontal assault when a clever route will get them to their goal just as well. They are scouts and infiltrators, using stealth and cunning to find the most effective path to their objective. This makes them broadly versed in a multitude of cultures and customs, from different human societies to the intricate spiritual greetings of the Umbra.

It can be a lonely path, as they form many relationships but are never truly settled. A Silent Strider may join a pack with the intent of learning something or finding something that a distant person will need. Their purpose is not to find a home but to be the bridge between those who have one. They carry the weight of their reputation for bringing bad news, but they see their life as a necessary burden, a better fate than oblivion.

The Patron Spirit of the Silent Striders is Owl, a spirit who encourages his followers to approach matters on their own terms. Owl observes carefully from a high vantage point, acting only when he has seen everything there is to see. He and his tribe are associated with Wisdom, reflecting their deep knowledge of the world and their understanding of when to act and when to wait.

Owl offers his followers a powerful Favor: a bonus die to any Athletics or Stealth dice pool related to traversal, escape, or infiltration. This spiritual guidance helps them to move unseen and unheard, a vital skill for a tribe of messengers. However, Owl has a unique and demanding Ban: a Silent Strider must perform a commemorative rite to acknowledge any death they witness or participate in. If they fail to do so, they can only recover a single Willpower at the start of the next session. This ritual honors their Patron’s history and ensures that they never forget the weight of the lives they encounter on their endless travels.

Whether a Kinseeker is a lonely scout searching for new werewolves, an Ambassador is negotiating partnerships and resolving grudges, a Revivalist is moving from town to town preaching a strange gospel of salvation, or a Long-Haul Trucker is using their profession to track their true quarry, every Silent Strider is defined by their journey. They are the Garou who understand that the greatest secrets are found not in a single place, but in the spaces between them.
