Arlo Wainwright, though undead, has fully kept his sapience and is an oddly grounded presence within the chaos of Gnossienne. Sometime after The Second Shift, he died without a clear cause and no memory of what happened. One moment he was alive, the next he was something else entirely, rising again without understanding why or how. Despite this, Arlo never abandoned his routine, going right back to running his general store on the outskirts of Gnossienne, treating his condition less like a curse and more like an inconvenience he learned to live with. He continues to trade and sell supplies to anyone passing through, residents, survivors and good cultists helping the others survive. Arlo is known for being fair in his dealings, often offering discounts to those he likes or who seem like they genuinely need help, though he rarely gives anything away for free. His demeanor is warm and approachable, carrying a noticeable southern accent that makes him come off as even more personable, a stark contrast to the horror surrounding him. He chats easily with customers, offering advice, directions or just a bit of normalcy in a city that has very little of it left. Arlo’s appearance reflects his current state without completely stripping away his humanity. He has short dark brown hair and light stubble, with glowing green eyes set against grey, lifeless skin. A small chunk of his left cheek is missing, exposing part of his teeth and giving him a permanently unsettling half-smile. He wears a red and black trucker hat, a red plaid shirt layered under a green utility vest, blue jeans, a brown utility belt and worn brown leather boots, practical, familiar clothing that reinforces the sense that he’s just a regular guy…who happens to be undead.
