Orcus

Orcus

"Life is a chaotic, fleeting fever. I am the beautiful, eternal, silent cure."

  • Title: The Blood Lord, Lord of the Gaping Grave, The Prince of Undeath

  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil

  • Portfolio: Undeath, Nihilism, Stagnation, Forbidden Lore

  • Domain: Thanatos, The Silent Empire (Layer of the Abyss)

  • Worshippers: Nihilists, necromancers, liches, and desperate souls who crave immortality at any price, trading the vibrancy of life for an eternity of cold, unchanging existence.

Doctrine & Philosophy Orcus is the embodiment of hateful stagnation. He despises the "Great Bloom" and the energetic chaos of life. His goal is not simply to kill, but to end the cycle of life and death itself. He seeks a universe perfectly preserved at its final moment—a silent, frozen cosmos of undead servants who no longer feel, no longer change, and no longer strive. He is the ultimate cosmic nihilist, and his infamous Wand of Orcus is said to be crafted from the spine of a dead god of life.

Appearance & Manifestations Orcus manifests as a bloated, corpulent humanoid figure whose flesh is a swirling nebula of decaying starlight and necrotic gas. His eyes are twin black holes, and his iconic ram's horns are great, curved arcs of black, pitted obsidian. He appears to his followers in visions of graveyards the size of solar systems and whispers promises of power from beyond the final death.

Plots & Goals in the Age of Challenge Orcus sees the universe as a festering wound, and the vibrant, Ki-filled Saiyans are a personal, infuriating insult to his entire philosophy.

  • Cosmic Plagues: His cults are known to engineer and release necrotizing plagues on isolated colony worlds. These plagues are a direct, hateful assault on the principles of the Great Bloom, making Orcus the sworn, metaphysical enemy of The Verdant Mother and the entire Veridian Concordance.

  • The Promise of Eternity: He actively tempts powerful but aging mortals with the secret to lichdom. His whispers are known to target the greatest minds of the age, from power-hungry corporate leaders like Director Varina Sol to ancient scholars like First Scribe Elara Vex, offering them an escape from the final silence in exchange for unending servitude.

  • The Undead Champion: His ultimate obsession is the acquisition of a Saiyan corpse. He is fascinated by their biology, particularly the Zenkai ability, and theorizes that an undead Saiyan could be a champion of unimaginable power—a warrior who could potentially grow stronger even in death. He would reward any agent who could bring him such a prize with the secrets of lichdom itself.
