👊 The Saiyans: The Fourth Power of Self
In a cosmos governed by the three great powers, a fourth has now arrived. While Clerics and Paladins gain power through a Covenant with the divine, and Warlocks through a Bargain with cosmic entities, and Wizards and Druids through Knowledge of the universe's rules—the Saiyan stands apart. Theirs is the power of Self.
A Saiyan does not ask for power, nor do they borrow it or steal it. They do not study the intricate language of the Cosmic Weave to politely request its cooperation. A Saiyan's Ki is the force of their own soul, their own fighting spirit, imposing its will directly onto reality. It is a declaration of "I AM" screamed so loudly and with such conviction that the universe has no choice but to listen and obey. Every Ki blast is an extension of their being, and every transformation is a new chapter in their personal saga.
🔥 The Soul of the Fighter
To understand a Saiyan is to understand that combat is their highest form of expression. It is their art, their religion, and their reason for being. This is not born of a desire for conquest or sadistic cruelty, but from an unyielding, instinctual drive for self-improvement. To a Saiyan, a stagnant life is a wasted one, and the only true measure of growth is a challenge that pushes them to the brink of annihilation.
They revere a "good fight" with the same passion a cleric shows their god. A worthy opponent is the greatest gift the cosmos can offer, for it is in the crucible of a desperate battle, standing on the edge of defeat, that a Saiyan truly comes alive. This is the source of their legendary Zenkai ability—their very spirit burns brightest when it is closest to being extinguished, forging them anew in the fires of their own near-demise.
💥 The Fire Within: The Path to Power
A Saiyan's journey is one of internal discovery, not external acquisition. Their progression is measured in the breaking of their own self-imposed limits. While other warriors seek out magical weapons or powerful artifacts, a Saiyan knows that the ultimate weapon lies dormant within their own soul.
To "Power Up" is to stoke the embers of their spirit into a bonfire. A full transformation, like the legendary Super Saiyan state, is a spiritual cataclysm. It is the moment a Saiyan shatters the dam within their own soul, unleashing a torrent of power that reshapes them, both physically and emotionally. This path is different for every Saiyan, a reflection of their core being—their Will.
Some find strength through iron-willed discipline and endless training (Will of the Warrior).
Some are born cursed with a boundless, volcanic power they can barely control (Will of the Legend).
Some only unlock their true potential when their love for another is threatened, their power becoming a shield for others (Will of the Vanguard).
And some treat combat as the ultimate art form, perfecting their technique until their very being becomes a flawless weapon (Will of the Fused).
The Saiyan Tail: A Mark of Heritage
The prehensile tail is a biological hallmark of the Saiyan race, an organ deeply connected to their sense of balance and the flow of their inner Ki. In their lost universe, the tail was a mark of a pure-blooded warrior, and many traditionalists, particularly those under Commander Kado's influence, still wear it with immense pride.
However, it contains a well-known weakness: if grabbed with sufficient force by an opponent who knows of this flaw, it can temporarily paralyze a Saiyan with excruciating pain. For this reason, many modern Saiyans, especially Zukini's Outriders, choose to have their tails removed for practicality. True mastery, however, is not removing the weakness, but overcoming it. A Saiyan who has trained their tail to withstand this flaw is a warrior of immense discipline.
The Primal Path: The Oozaru Form
The tail is the key to unlocking a Saiyan's most ancient and savage power. Contrary to garbled legends, this transformation is not triggered by a moon or any external radiation. It is a willed, internal transformation, a spiritual journey into a Saiyan's own primal core. It is an incredibly difficult and rare path of mastery.
To unlock the Oozaru Form, a Saiyan must confront and tame the inner beast that rages within their bloodline. If successful, they don't become a mindless, giant ape. Instead, their body is sheathed in a dense layer of crimson-brown fur, their muscles swell with primal power, and their Ki takes on a wild, untamed quality.
This form grants the user overwhelming physical strength, incredible durability, and rapid regeneration, but it sacrifices the precision and energy projection of their other forms. It is the ultimate expression of the Saiyan as a physical brawler and an unstoppable juggernaut. Mastering this path is a feat few have achieved.
🌍 A People Apart: The Saiyan in the Universe
In the "Age of Challenge," the Saiyans are a paradox: they are refugees and conquerors, saviours and destroyers, legends and boogeymen. Bound by the Kaleeran Accord, they are a tamed force of nature, a living hurricane that has agreed to follow the weather report. They may not destroy worlds unprovoked, but their very presence warps the societies around them.
Martial arts dojos on cosmopolitan worlds now teach flawed, second-hand imitations of their fighting style. The Syndicate of Mercane pays fortunes to lure low-class Saiyans into their gladiatorial arenas. A single Saiyan Outrider arriving on a frontier world can destabilize an entire sector, either by challenging the local champion to a world-shattering duel or by single-handedly wiping out the pirate fleet that has plagued the system for decades.
They are a living challenge, not just to the monsters and warriors of this new reality, but to the universe's fundamental understanding of power itself. They have proven that one does not need a god, a pact, or a library of ancient lore to become a god-like force—one only needs the will to become stronger.
