Overview Known colloquially as the "Mercenary Guild," the formal name of Warden Kaelix's organization is The Aegis Compact. It is the largest, most professional, and most respected mercenary outfit operating out of The Gilded Chain. Founded by the Marked veteran Kaelix, the Compact was forged to bring order and reliability to the chaotic business of freelance warfare. They are not the cheapest option, but they are the best. Their reputation is built on a foundation of unbreakable contracts and ruthless efficiency. They are strictly neutral, and their services are available to any client with sufficient funds, from the Stellar Imperium to the Syndicate's most shadowy corporations.

The Guildhall The Compact's headquarters is a veritable fortress carved out of a decommissioned asteroid tethered to the Foundry district of The Gilded Chain. The exterior is bristling with automated defense turrets and reinforced hangar bays. Inside, it is a self-contained community for its members, featuring:

The Bounty Board: A massive, chaotic holographic display in the main hall, listing hundreds of open contracts from across the galaxy.
The Armory: A state-of-the-art workshop where members can purchase, repair, and modify weapons and armor.
The Proving Ground: A zero-gravity training arena for sparring and live-fire exercises.
"The Last Stand" Cantina: A heavily-reinforced bar where members can relax between missions. It is considered the safest place on the entire Gilded Chain for a Compact member.

The Three Pillars (Code of Conduct) Every member, from a raw Initiate to the Warden himself, is bound by the three tenets that give the Compact its name and its fearsome reputation.

The Contract is Iron: A Compact mercenary's word is their bond. The terms of an accepted contract are to be fulfilled to the letter. Failure to complete a contract without just cause is grounds for expulsion and a blacklisting that makes it impossible to find work anywhere else.
The Payment is Sovereign: The mission is the job, and the job is for credits. Personal feelings, politics, and morality are irrelevant once a contract is signed. A merc who lets their conscience get in the way of the objective is a liability.
