The Forge-Mother
The Forge-Mother
"A wall is good. A sword is better. But a home, a school, a workshop... these are the things that truly defeat the darkness. Build. Connect. Improve. This is the highest form of worship."
Title: The Divine Artificer, The Great Builder, The Heart of the City
Alignment: Neutral Good (with lawful leanings)
Portfolio: Invention, Community, Craft, Civilization, Protection
Domain: Heaven
Worshippers: Artificers, engineers, city-planners, artisans, Petran clans, and anyone who believes in progress through creation.
Doctrine & Philosophy
The Forge-Mother's creed is that the greatest good is achieved through collaboration, ingenuity, and hard work. She teaches that a strong, interconnected community, supported by well-crafted tools and clever innovation, is the galaxy's best defense against chaos and despair. She values a sturdy rivet over a flowery prayer and a blueprint for a new water purifier over a hymn. She is the patron of not just the Artificer in their workshop, but of every person who works to build a better, safer, and more efficient society for all.
Appearance & Manifestations
The Forge-Mother never appears as a delicate or ethereal goddess. She manifests as a being of immense, practical power. She might appear as a powerful Petran-like woman in masterfully crafted power armor, her hands wreathed in the golden light of creation. To an architect, she might appear as a being of pure light, holding glowing blueprints for an impossible, perfect city. Her presence is always accompanied by the faint, rhythmic sound of a hammer on an anvil and the smell of a clean, hot forge.
Plots & Goals in the Age of Challenge
The Forge-Mother is a pragmatic and proactive deity, constantly working to strengthen the foundations of mortal civilization.
Rebuilding the Walls: Her primary goal is to repair and improve the galactic infrastructure shaken by the Godfall. She inspires her followers to design stronger starship shields, more efficient energy systems, and better-fortified cities. Her divine guidance is the unseen hand behind many of the Imperium's greatest technological achievements.
The Neutral Engineer: While her domain is in Heaven, her influence is felt everywhere. Her principles of good craftsmanship and fair trade are respected even by the Petran clans who supply the Syndicate. It's said that even the innovator Archon Vokka unknowingly channels her divine principles of synthesis and creation in his own experiments.
The Ki Question: The Forge-Mother is intensely interested in Ki, not as a weapon, but as a new, incredibly potent and clean power source. She inspires her Artificer followers, like the exiled Brylla Stonehand, to find ways to safely harness, store, and utilize Ki energy for constructive, civilian purposes, a goal that puts them in a quiet race with the Imperium's more militant researchers.
