Tieflings

Core Concept: Mortals whose bloodlines are forever marked by a fiendish pact, making them cosmic outcasts.
History & Culture: Tieflings are not a race with a homeworld, but a recurring phenomenon. Wherever a mortal makes a pact with a devil or is exposed to the raw chaos of the Abyss, their bloodline can be tainted for generations. Infernal Tieflings, born of pacts with Hell, often manifest horns, tails, and an unnerving sense of cunning and order. Abyssal Tieflings, born of chaotic demonic influence, are more varied and monstrous, with physical mutations that reflect their ancestor's specific patron. Feared and mistrusted, Tieflings build their own culture on the fringes of society, a culture of resilience, self-reliance, and cynicism.
Place in the Universe: They are scattered throughout the galaxy, most often in the lawless spaces controlled by @The Syndicate of Mercane. Infernal Tieflings often find success as sharp-witted information brokers, lawyers, or enforcers. Abyssal Tieflings, more volatile and powerful, frequently become feared mercenaries, pirates, or pit fighters.
Adventurers: The Tiefling adventurer's story is almost always one of identity. They fight to escape the shadow of their ancestry, to prove they are more than their blood, or, in some cases, to embrace the power their heritage grants them and carve out a place in a universe that shuns them.
