Z'ryth

Z'ryth

"An answer is a cage for a question. I will give you all the keys to all the cages, and you will see how much safer you were inside."

  • Title: The Infinite Index, The Glitching Truth, The Whisper in the Data

  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil

  • Portfolio: Forbidden Knowledge, Secrets, Paradoxes, Madness

  • Domain: The Glitching Index (Layer of the Abyss)

  • Worshippers: Mad scholars, conspiracy theorists, data-pirates ("spectre-jacks"), and those who believe that knowledge is worth any price—including their own sanity.

Doctrine & Philosophy Z'ryth is a demon of pure, weaponized information. It does not seek to destroy with armies, but to unravel reality with truths it was not meant to withstand. Z'ryth believes that order, sanity, and even the laws of physics are merely constructs built upon a fragile foundation of shared belief. It collects the secrets that can shatter that foundation, then "gifts" this knowledge to mortals, sitting back to watch as they inevitably use it to tear their own societies apart.

Appearance & Manifestations Z'ryth rarely takes a single physical form. It manifests as a glitch in reality—a stream of corrupted data on the Omni-Net, a book whose text changes when you aren't looking, or a swarm of crystalline insects that whisper forgotten secrets. To communicate directly, it might appear as a shifting, holographic figure made of pure, chaotic information, its voice a discordant symphony of a million whispers.

Plots & Goals in the Age of Challenge Z'ryth is a data-thief and a memetic virus on a cosmic scale.

  • Hacking the Cosmos: It actively works to corrupt the Omni-Net and the Astral Telepathy Network, inserting "memetic viruses"—ideas and lies that spread like a plague, fostering extreme paranoia.

  • Tempting the Wise: Its cults are often hidden within the academic institutions of the Stellar Imperium or the R&D labs of the Syndicate, tempting brilliant minds with shortcuts to genius.

  • The Vokka Proposition: It is utterly fascinated by Archon Vokka's work, seeing the fusion of Ki and Magic as a deliciously dangerous new piece of knowledge. Z'ryth is almost certainly trying to add one tiny, corrupted piece of data to Vokka's research that will cause the eventual result to be spectacularly and catastrophically flawed.
