The Olympian Chosen — Divine Relations & Factional Influence
The Olympian Chosen are mortals called into divine service — emissaries of the gods, not their replacements. They walk the line between heaven and earth, bearing relics forged by faith and tempered by sacrifice. Where they go, temples rally, empires stir, and the balance of Olympus trembles — not because they seek divinity, but because they remind the gods what mortals can achieve in their name.
Among them stands one of mixed blood — Eirenaios of Hades, a demigod born of shadow and duty — proof that even the divine cannot escape kinship with humankind.
⚡ The High Temple of Aegion (Existing Faction — Religious Authority)
Seat of Zeus’ worship and guardian of divine law. The temple declared Jatt Mohnson’s arrival as the Fulfillment of the Sky Oath — a mortal raised to restore faith in the justice of the heavens. Yet their reverence is cautious. Power borrowed from gods often outgrows its leash.
Relation: Honorific alliance. They arm and bless Jatt’s missions but monitor his every step, wary of human interpretation of divine order.
Notable Figure: Archon-Oracle Pherion, who fears the Spear-Bearer’s sense of justice may one day exceed the Sky-Father’s will.
Conflict: Scholars within the temple argue whether Jatt’s lightning comes from Zeus or the spark of his own conviction.
⚙️ The Forge-Faith of Pyranthos (Existing Faction — Artificer Guild)
A city of molten sanctuaries dedicated to Hephaestus. Their forges ring day and night with hymns of hammer and flame. When Hephaer the Forged appeared, flame answered his call as if recognizing kin.
Relation: Reverent respect; Hephaer is seen as the Flame’s chosen craftsman — a bridge between divine inspiration and mortal creation.
Division: The Unquenched, a radical splinter sect, claim Hephaer’s restraint dishonors the god of invention, demanding divine fire be wielded as weaponry.
Impact: Pyranthos’ forges now craft relics of both faith and science — blurring the boundary between prayer and precision.
🌊 The Tidemarked Orders (Existing Faction — Maritime Brotherhoods)
Sailors, traders, and explorers bound by Poseidon’s code of tide and tempest. When Nereon rose from a sunken battlefield encased in coral armor, they named him the Tide’s Chosen. His laughter carries across storm winds — to sailors, it’s a good omen; to pirates, a warning.
Relation: Reverence tempered by rivalry. The Orders praise Nereon’s deeds, yet old sea captains resent his disregard for naval rank.
Dynamic: To the faithful, he is Poseidon’s mercy; to the fearful, his storm.
Belief: “The tide bows to none.” The saying adorns every ship blessed under Nereon’s watch.
⚖️ The Argent Banner (Existing Faction — Mercenary Guild)
Founded as a neutral force for mortal causes, the Argent Banner’s oaths bind them to no crown or god. The arrival of the Chosen, however, blurred their neutrality. Divinity now walks with contracts in hand.
Relation: Allies by creed, not command. The Banner views the Chosen as peers — mortals proving their worth without immortality’s promise.
Tension: High-ranking captains debate whether to maintain neutrality or embrace divine patronage to survive a changing age.
Legacy: Dravos trained Banner recruits in his past life; some now follow the Chosen out of loyalty, others out of fear of divine retribution.
🌅 The Choir of the Dawn (New Faction — Cultural / Religious)
When Lyra of Apollo sang the Hymn of the Nine Suns before a broken army and turned defeat into triumph, the Choir was born. It began as followers, became a faith, and has since spread to every city touched by despair.
Relation: Spiritual devotion, not worship. They see Lyra as a mortal muse whose music reveals the divine, not as a vessel of it.
Philosophy: “The gods grant light; we must choose what to illuminate.”
Tension: Militants call them weak. But kings kneel to their hymns when steel fails to bring peace.
🩸 The Crimson Cohort (New Faction — Martial Order of Ares)
Founded by Ares’ zealots after Dravos’ resurrection from the battlefield of Phlegethon. They see war as both trial and truth — a forge that burns away weakness.
Relation: Loyal but volatile. They follow Dravos’ banner, but their interpretation of Ares’ will swings from valor to carnage.
Conflict: Jatt condemns their brutality; Lyra seeks to redeem them; Dravos tries — and often fails — to restrain their excess.
Symbol: A blood-red helm split by a golden scar — honor earned through pain.
🕯️ The Order of the Deep Throne (New Faction — Underworld Sect)
The only faction that speaks Hades’ name aloud without fear. They maintain burial rites, guard the sanctity of the dead, and serve as stewards of the Underworld’s balance.
Relation: Absolute fealty to Eirenaios, Hades’ half-mortal son. They recognize him as the Voice of Quietus — not a god, but the will of one.
Public Perception: Both revered and feared. Commoners leave black coins at their doors for safe passage in dreams.
Purpose: To ensure souls reach their rest. Their motto: “The grave remembers.”
⚔️ The Council of Twelve Thrones (New Faction — Divine Conclave)
A council of oracles, high priests, and chosen emissaries representing each major deity. Their purpose is to coordinate divine efforts among mortals — a fragile peacekeeping body.
Relation: The Chosen serve as their envoys, executing divine missions on behalf of multiple gods.
Divide: Athena’s delegates favor diplomacy, Ares’ thirst for victory, and Hades’ emissary reminds them that every debate ends in silence.
Function: The Council prevents mortal wars from becoming divine crusades — or tries to.
⚡ Political and Mortal Response
The Chosen’s existence reshapes the world’s faith and fear alike:
Locria: Declares them “Champions of Olympus,” granting open passage through its lands.
Theros: Outlaws their worship, accusing them of destabilizing mortal governance.
The Desert of Nyx: Sends prophetic assassins to test their resolve — a ritual they call The Trial of Night.
The Free Cities: Turn their deeds into spectacle, their likenesses appearing in theater and song more than scripture.
The gods’ names fill the mouths of kings again — not as prayers, but as political leverage.
⚡ Interpersonal Faction Dynamics
Jatt & The High Temple: Loyal champion, yet increasingly independent — his sense of justice often challenges the letter of the law.
Thaleia & The Council: Serves as Athena’s strategist but distrusts divine bureaucracy; prefers logic to prophecy.
Nereon & The Tidemarked Orders: Symbol of liberation to sailors, but a storm to those who profit from fear.
Hephaer & Pyranthos: Craftsman-saint; his humility inspires apprentices but frustrates zealots seeking grandeur.
Lyra & The Choir: Their muse and moral compass; she unites faiths that have warred for generations.
Dravos & The Crimson Cohort: Idolized general; his attempts to temper their bloodlust define his redemption arc.
Eirenaios & The Deep Throne: Revered as the demigod judge; he acts as both shepherd and sentinel between life and death.
⚡ Divine Balance
The Olympian Chosen are not gods — they are proof the gods still trust mortals to carry the weight of destiny.
Only Eirenaios bears divine blood, yet even he walks among his companions as brother, not master. The gods act through them, not as them.
Their victories do not rewrite creation — they preserve it. Their choices echo louder than their miracles.
For when heaven’s will falters, it is not the thunder, the tide, or the flame that restores balance —
but the hands that wield them.
