The short, fitful nights offer little respite. Furthermore, the first week coincides with the great festival of Apollonalia (Days 1–7), a period of feasting, sacrifice, and revelry dedicated to the god of light, fittingly celebrated under the nearly perpetual, cold glare of the Hyperborean sun.
