Icehome is a coastal settlement located beside the Great Salt Lake, the enormous green ocean of Not-Hoth. It is one of the planet's two major communities, alongside Croatoan.
Unlike Croatoan, an ancient settlement rediscovered by the mainland sa-khui, Icehome was founded by the modern inhabitants of Not-Hoth.
Its origins are tied to the Tranquil Lady, the rescue of additional extraterrestrial captives, and the arrival of refugees from the volcanic island.
What began as a temporary camp gradually became a permanent home for humans, sa-khui, islanders, and other aliens.
The Tranquil Lady was a Mesakkah cargo spacecraft that eventually fell into the hands of Szzt slavers.
When the slavers returned to Not-Hoth and attempted to abduct residents, they were defeated. Twenty additional captives were discovered aboard the ship in stasis.
The rescued captives included human women and alien men who had been held as gladiators.
These newcomers required medical attention, shelter, and assistance adapting to Not-Hoth's dangerous environment.
The Tranquil Lady was brought toward the Great Salt Lake to be dismantled and disposed of. A temporary coastal camp formed while the inhabitants worked on the vessel.
The ship was eventually sunk, leaving its former captives to establish new lives on the planet.
During the events surrounding the Tranquil Lady, Lauren and Marisol became separated from the mainland group and reached a volcanic island.
The island was inhabited by descendants of the ancient Sakh and the People. These inhabitants had developed separate clans, customs, and physical characteristics over many generations.
The island's environment was warmer and supported more vegetation than the frozen mainland, but its volcano threatened the population.
Lauren helped convince the surviving islanders that they needed to leave their ancestral home.
The surviving Strong Arm, Tall Horn, and Shadow Cat clans eventually evacuated to the mainland.
Their arrival transformed the temporary coastal camp into a growing community.
The islanders had lost their homes and needed somewhere to settle. The rescued captives also needed a place to recover and adapt.
The coastal camp offered access to fishing, natural caves, and resources from the Great Salt Lake.
Instead of relocating everyone to Croatoan, the inhabitants began establishing a permanent settlement.
Vektal accepted the islanders into the broader tribal community, and the newcomers acknowledged his leadership.
The village became known as Icehome.
Its residents brought different backgrounds and abilities. Mainland sa-khui taught newcomers how to survive the brutal cold, while humans and islanders contributed their own knowledge, traditions, and skills.
The earliest inhabitants relied on natural caves, tents, and temporary shelters.
Over time, they constructed wooden huts along the snowy beach.
A communal longhouse provided space for gatherings and shared activities. Additional structures developed as the population grew.
Important village locations include:
Communal Longhouse: A central gathering place for residents.
Healing Hut: A larger structure used for medical care and recovery.
Bridget's Pottery Workshop: A place for producing pottery and useful household items.
Natural Caves: Nearby shelters and storage spaces within the rocky cliffs.
Beach and Shoreline: Used for fishing, gathering resources, and accessing the Great Salt Lake.
Icehome's architecture is practical, relying on local materials and construction techniques suitable for Not-Hoth's climate.
Raahosh serves as Icehome's chief, overseeing the settlement's daily affairs and safety.
Vektal remains the overall chief of both Icehome and Croatoan.
The two settlements maintain close relationships through family connections, shared resources, cooperation, and mutual assistance.
They are not rival tribes.
Residents may travel between the communities, visit relatives, and choose where they prefer to live.
Several established characters contribute significantly to Icehome.
Raahosh: Chief of Icehome and mate to Liz.
Liz: One of the original human survivors and Raahosh's mate.
Veronica: A healer whose abilities are valuable to the community.
Ashtar: An extraterrestrial resident possessing unusual transportation abilities.
Bridget: A skilled potter with a workshop in the village.
Steph: A therapist who helps residents navigate emotional and interpersonal difficulties.
Other residents contribute through hunting, crafting, construction, food preparation, childcare, and communal responsibilities.
Each character has an independent personality, family, and daily life.
During the events of Steph's Outcast, unusual marine creatures came ashore and destroyed many of Icehome's buildings.
The attack displaced numerous residents and forced the community to reconsider its immediate living arrangements.
Some families temporarily relocated to Croatoan, while others remained near the coast.
The disaster demonstrated that Icehome's location, although valuable, exposed the settlement to dangers from the Great Salt Lake.
The residents eventually rebuilt Icehome, restoring homes and communal structures.
Some families returned to Croatoan, while others chose to remain permanently at Icehome.
Raahosh, Liz, and their children stayed, as did Rukh, Harlow, and their family.
The rebuilding strengthened Icehome's identity as a permanent community rather than a temporary refuge.
The village continued developing as families grew and residents established routines, responsibilities, and traditions.
At the beginning of Ice Planet Barbarians: A New Beginning, Icehome is an established coastal village.
Its population includes humans, sa-khui, islander descendants, and other extraterrestrial inhabitants.
The settlement has wooden homes, a communal longhouse, a healing hut, a pottery workshop, and nearby natural caves.
The volcanic island's destruction and Icehome's rebuilding are historical events, not ongoing disasters.
Raahosh remains Icehome's chief, while Vektal maintains overall leadership of both major communities.
Icehome's residents have their own families, occupations, relationships, and concerns. They continue living independently of player characters.
New arrivals may find shelter, companionship, or opportunities within the village, but they enter an existing community rather than an empty settlement waiting to be populated.
Icehome began as a temporary camp associated with the Tranquil Lady.
Twenty additional captives were rescued from the spacecraft.
Lauren helped the surviving island clans evacuate to the mainland.
The arrival of the islanders contributed to Icehome's permanent establishment.
The earliest shelters were caves and tents, later replaced by wooden huts.
Raahosh leads Icehome; Vektal oversees both major communities.
Marine creatures damaged the village during Steph's Outcast.
Icehome was rebuilt and remains inhabited in the current campaign.
Croatoan and Icehome are allied settlements with shared history and family ties.
Established residents retain independent lives and personalities.
