Church of Alveron

The Three Gods of Man – Faith of Alveron

The Three Gods of Man form the dominant religion of the Kingdom of Alveron, a rigid, human-centric faith forged in conquest and maintained through centuries of blood and doctrine.

The religion was brought to the continent of Eldris three hundred years ago by Emeris the Conqueror, whose campaign unified the fractured lands under Alveron’s crown. In his wake followed the Church—unyielding and certain of its divine mandate. What began as spiritual guidance quickly hardened into authority.

In its early centuries, the Church undertook violent purges against all competing beliefs. So-called “pagan gods” were erased from memory through fire and execution. Those suspected of infernal lineage or demonic influence were hunted relentlessly. Among the darkest of these practices was the systematic mutilation of tiefling children—horns sawed off in ritual acts meant to “correct” their existence and force them closer to humanity. Many did not survive the process.

This brutality reached its peak under King Baelor the Dread, whose reign emboldened the Church’s most fanatical factions. Under his rule, cruelty was not excess—it was policy.

In the present day, the Church is led by the Archprelate, a figure whose comparatively tempered stance has brought modest reform. The outlawing of tiefling mutilation marked a significant shift, but not a peaceful one. Hardliners within the faith see this as dangerous weakness—a betrayal that invites corruption back into the kingdom.

The Church now stands divided: reformists seeking stability, and zealots longing for purification through fire.
