Emeris the Conqueror

Emeris the Conquer

Founder of the Kingdom of Alveron

Conquest of the Heartlands

Three centuries ago, Emeris the Conqueror crossed the Eastern Sea with a vast armada, disciplined armies, and a vision of placing the human lands of Eldris beneath a single crown. His invasion broke the divided rulers of the Heartlands and established the foundations of the Kingdom of Alveron. Emeris brought with him the Faith of the Three Gods of Man, which spread alongside his armies through conversion, royal patronage, and violent campaigns against those he condemned as worshippers of false gods.

Campaigns Beyond the Heartlands

Defeat in Dravareth and Truce with Vaenor

Emeris attempted to extend his dominion north into Dravareth, but the combined resistance of northern men and orcs prevented him from holding the region. Violent rebellions, encouraged by the influence of the god Drogon, further weakened his position and forced him to withdraw his armies. In the south, his invasion of Vaenor ended after months of siege and heavy losses. Unable to secure a decisive victory, Emeris accepted a truce, leaving Vaenor beyond the direct authority of the Kingdom of Alveron.

Institutions Founded by Emeris

The Grey Tower and the Capital City of Alveron

Emeris established the original foundation from which the Grey Tower would later develop, recognizing that organized magic could not be ignored by the crown. He also founded the capital city of Alveron and ordered the construction of the White Keep, creating a permanent seat from which the Kingdom of Alveron could be governed. The capital city of Alveron became the political and administrative center of the kingdom, while the White Keep stood as the enduring symbol of the dynasty and royal authority Emeris had created.

Death and Burial of Emeris

Tomb on the Coast of Velkaryn

Emeris was laid to rest upon the coast of the March of Velkaryn, facing the Eastern Sea from which his armada had first arrived. The location was chosen so that his tomb would look back toward his distant homeland while meeting the sunrise as it passed over the Kingdom of Alveron. From that coastal monument, the Conqueror is remembered as the foreign invader who united the Heartlands, introduced a new faith, founded lasting institutions, and shaped the borders of the kingdom through both his victories and his failures.
