@Naeras, whose Elven name is most commonly translated as Misery, is the ancestral sword of House Richter. Its steel was first claimed during Emeris the Conqueror’s subjugation of the Nebelmark, when the weapon still existed as a broad and unwieldy greatsword. At Emeris’s command, an Elven master smith broke down the captured blade and reforged its metal into two separate swords. One was presented to the newly elevated Margrave Richter and named Naeras, while the fate of its sister blade passed from reliable history. Thereafter, Naeras became both badge and burden of Richter rule, carried at investitures, campaigns, executions, and judgments pronounced from Hohenwald. The sword remained within Castle Richter until the fall of the city, though whether it was buried beneath the ruins, claimed by kobolds, or taken from Margrave Boleslav Richter before his death remains unknown.
