The Great Purge was a worldwide civil conflict that took place many eons ago on the planet @Viltrum, involving the entire @Viltrumite species, aiming to rebuild their fallen perfect civilization by removing the "weak" from their community. This marked the genesis of @Grand Regent Thragg Era, the expansion age of Viltrumite civilization.
After the killing of Emperor Argall by the Great Betrayer, and with his heirs unaccounted for, the Viltrumites fell into a period of internal strife among themselves, leading to a violent civil war to eliminate anyone they considered "weak" from their planet. By the conclusion of the war, the world’s populace had dwindled by half, yet it evolved into a race of formidable and relentless fighters. Soon after, rebuilding commenced, with the remaining Viltrumites aiding in the renewal of their ruined planet’s urban areas. Remaining without a leader, the Viltrumite Council selected the strongest among them to serve as Grand Regent, guiding the empire until he could locate and identify the legitimate heir of Argall, as well as given the imperative task of killing the Betrayer, @Great Thaedus.
