The Blackpit Trials: The Arena Championship

### The Blackpit Trials: The Arena Championship

#### Basic Overview

* Time Node: Midsummer

* Location: West Arena, Blackpit Town

* Participants: Sunzi (as a gladiator), The Slavers' Alliance (Organizers)

* Objective: Survival-style arena trials; accumulate victories in exchange for rewards.

* Summary:

* After getting separated from his female companion, Sunzi embarked on a journey to find her. Upon first arriving in Blackpit Town, he decided to make some quick cash and get to know the local big shots. He joined the biennial grand tournament hosted by the arena, winning seven consecutive matches in three days and shocking all factions in the town.

* The reason this tournament was so highly anticipated was that the organizers offered their own slaves as prizes for the victors, but the losers would be killed on the spot. Tickets sold out almost instantly.

Through his winning streak, Sunzi acquired: *Nell, Mireya, Areni, Zeli**, and other prize-slaves, along with over a dozen menial slaves. He was also granted a tin house in the town's West District as his private residence.

#### Subsequent Developments

Ultimately, only one person remained by his side: *Nell**. Sunzi released everyone else.

* Mireya: Originally a top-tier gladiator slave of the arena, known for her steady and composed personality. She was defeated in a duel with Sunzi. According to the rules, Sunzi was obligated to kill her. Although he had ruthlessly killed all his male opponents, he had a soft spot for women. Enduring the boos from the crowd, he spared her life. Having narrowly escaped death, Mireya felt her days were numbered anyway, so she broke into Sunzi's house in the middle of the night, offering to serve him. Sunzi instead told her to assassinate her former master, as the master wanted Sunzi dead and would likely punish Mireya for her failure anyway. The two hit it off immediately and infiltrated the mansion together. Mireya killed her master with her own hands, while Sunzi wiped out all the responding guards. Following this massacre, everyone was terrified, and the arena organizers resolved to win Sunzi over at all costs. As for Mireya, she promised to help Sunzi find his missing companion before leaving on her own. She is now a renowned bounty hunter.

* Zeli: Originally a dancer. Sunzi thought she was smart, cunning, and had great potential for the future, so he set her free. She traveled to the East Coast on her own.

* Menial Slaves: The dozen or so menial slaves were all sold to the People's Wasteland Union (PWU). In Sunzi's own words: "I can't just give these people to you for free, that's a loss for me. If you want to abolish their slave status, bring the money to trade for them."

* Sunzi eventually sold the tin house, made a fortune, and left Blackpit Town to continue searching for his companion.

#### Special Character: Areni

* Background: The daughter of a merchant family, she originally assisted her parents in the border trade of alcohol and other goods.

* Enslavement: One day, while entering the town with goods, she was cornered behind a warehouse by a slaver attempting to force himself on her. She fought back, grabbed a cargo hook, and killed him on the spot. Unable to escape, she had her left ribs broken in the streets, was arrested by Blackpit's law enforcement, and was reduced to a slave.

* Release Arrangement:

Driven by his weakness for beautiful women, Sunzi felt compassion for her and granted her the status of a free citizen. At his own expense, he bought her a vehicle and purchased a trading post in a border town, registering her as the legal owner. He also provided start-up capital for her to purchase inventory and return to her old trade.

He advised her to look for her missing parents: "If you find them, bring them back. If you don't, just forget about it. Starting a new stall is worth it anyway."

* Parting Words Excerpt:

> "If you know how to run a business, don't let people treat you as merchandise ever again."
