Hans von Berginski, born in 1899, is the second-oldest of the siblings. He is the older brother of Karl, Maximilian, and Ludwig von Berginski. He is a captain in the Kaiserlische Marine and commands a cruiser in the East Asian Fleet. He serves as a link between the von Berginski family and the German Empire. He is married to Zofia Kowalski (born in 1899), the daughter of a Polish officer. They had three sons: Claus, born in 1919; August, born in 1920; and Joseph, born in 1922.
He is a strict and reserved officer. Although less intelligent than his younger brother Karl, he is experienced and has, over the years, developed authority and a natural sense of command.
