When hivers are separated from their hive, they can become corrupted and eventually turn into Fogmen. Fogmen are insane, cannibalistic, and numerous, but also have extremely low survivability. They are most frequently seen in the region of Fog Islands, with the proximity close to Vain and Dreg suggesting that they may have been once an ecosystem similar to or part of the Western Hive. Players should be careful when Fogmen are nearby.
Although the name would imply that they originated from Fog Islands, it is possible for Fogmen to spawn outside of those regions (e.g. Vain, Royal Valley, Tower of Fog), indicating that the "Fog" is not necessarily the condition for them to turn. Many Western Hive and Southern Hivers turn into Fogmen if their respective queens are taken out, it is likely the case for many of the ronins too.
