Black Emperor Pathway, Complete Levels, Abilities, Risks, and Storyteller Use

Pathway Identity

The Black Emperor Pathway belongs to the Anarchy group with Justiciar. It governs loopholes, bribery, corruption, distortion, disorder, hierarchy, exploitation, definition, autocracy, and the shadow cast by organized law.

Its Beyonders rise from persuasive legalists into corrupt officials, masters of disorder, fallen nobles, embodiments of entropy, and finally the divine Black Emperor. Its Sefirah is the Nation of Disorder. Its Mythical Creature form is a gigantic black baboon with nine arms and a dark crown.

General Storyteller Rules

Black Emperor Beyonders manipulate existing rules rather than ignoring all rules. They find ambiguity, redefine intent, magnify favorable effects, corrupt institutions, and make order serve personal interests.

Level Mapping Overview

The Black Emperor Pathway uses Levels 1–19. Level 20 is reserved for Above the Sequence.

Levels 1–2: Sequence 9, Lawyer. Levels 3–4: Sequence 8, Barbarian. Levels 5–6: Sequence 7, Briber. Levels 7–8: Sequence 6, Baron of Corruption. Levels 9–10: Sequence 5, Mentor of Disorder. Levels 11–12: Sequence 4, Earl of the Fallen. Levels 13–14: Sequence 3, Frenzied Mage. Levels 15–16: Sequence 2, Duke of Entropy. Levels 17–18: Sequence 1, Prince of Abolition. Level 19: Sequence 0, Black Emperor.

Levels 1–2: Lawyer

A Lawyer gains exceptional eloquence, reasoning, negotiation, and understanding of regulations, contracts, procedures, and social systems. Their words subtly guide judgment and make an argument appear more trustworthy than it is.

The acting principle is to follow an existing system while finding the interpretation that allows victory.

Lawyers remain physically ordinary. Written evidence, independent verification, refusal to negotiate, and mental protection oppose them.

Levels 3–4: Barbarian

A Barbarian gains tremendous physical strength, constitution, endurance, and resistance to psychological influence. Their body exceeds normal human limits and allows direct violence when words and procedure fail.

The acting principle is to recognize that resistance to one system may follow another set of rules. When negotiation fails, the Barbarian confronts opposition directly.

Firearms, poison, spiritual attacks, superior mobility, and coordinated enemies remain dangerous.

Levels 5–6: Briber

A Briber creates supernatural effects by offering an actual or symbolic payment. Money, gifts, information, promises, thrown objects, or acknowledged transfers may serve as Bribes.

Weaken reduces offense, defense, or resistance. Charm creates friendliness and reduces hostility. Arrogance encourages pride and poor judgment. Connection establishes a mystical link for later abilities.

The acting principle is to identify the desire, fear, or need that makes a key person willing to serve while believing they serve themselves.

A Bribe is influence, not unlimited obedience.

Levels 7–8: Baron of Corruption

A Baron of Corruption gains great physical strength and Distortion. They alter the interpretation of words, actions, intentions, directions, and procedures.

An attack may become a push, retreat become advance, or closing a door become sealing a room. They redirect trajectories, alter a supernatural effect’s target, distort instructions, or make a process produce a favorable abnormal result.

The acting principle is to enter a family, army, company, gang, or government and make its rules favor the Baron.

Distortion needs a meaningful relationship between the original act and altered result. Precise rules, multiple observers, closed systems, and higher authority restrict it.

Levels 9–10: Mentor of Disorder

A Mentor of Disorder creates Disorder within a target, object, measurement, judgment, or region. Attacks lose accuracy, distances become unreliable, structures behave incorrectly, and opponents make wrong choices.

Commanding Presence projects supernatural majesty, pressuring weaker beings to submit. Distortion and Bribery become stronger and can share curses, diseases, or harmful effects between connected targets.

Advancement requires dominating a city’s underground order and increasing crime more than tenfold for at least three months.

The acting principle is to destroy stable order and teach others to create lasting disorder.

Levels 11–12: Earl of the Fallen

An Earl of the Fallen is a demigod with an incomplete Mythical Creature form. Exploit extends or shortens an existing state. A jump can be prolonged into flight, an opening extended, or a weakness made to last.

Magnify enlarges an action, object, wound, environmental effect, or artifact. A minor injury may become fatal, a gust become a hurricane, and a grab reach across great distance. Magnification cannot normally be repeated continuously.

Bestowment imposes sluggishness, greed, impatience, lost fighting spirit, or fixation on money. Distortion can turn fatal injury into serious injury, movement into its opposite, or a mundane act into a seal.

Advancement requires becoming a national official, corrupting seven peers, and enacting a policy beneficial to the candidate but harmful to the population.

Levels 13–14: Frenzied Mage

A Frenzied Mage gains partial authority over Strata and Disorder. Superior turns legitimate status, strength, wealth, organization, and command into tangible pressure. Their voice suppresses spirits and subordinates, while their body may grow gigantic.

Frenzy makes abilities and conditions change unpredictably. The Mage’s powers often improve strangely, while enemy abilities become weaker, misplaced, harmless, or absurd. The exact result is not fully controllable.

Their Distortion can force an intention to continue beyond the target’s will or drastically redirect movement and attacks.

Advancement requires altering three rituals involving angel-level power through intuition beyond one’s knowledge, performing all three, and surviving.

The acting principle is to remain ruler within chaos rather than demand predictable results.

Levels 15–16: Duke of Entropy

A Duke of Entropy is an angel with a complete nine-armed Mythical Creature form. Entropy makes abilities, thoughts, structures, environments, and rules increasingly random and uncontrollable during prolonged conflict. Continued exposure may reduce a target into functional annihilation.

Exploitation reaches angelic scale. The Duke may exploit a state, loophole, distance, or rule to perform otherwise impossible effects. Distortion can twist rules created by another authority, while Superior magnifies hierarchy and position.

Advancement requires causing a nation of at least ten million people to collapse gradually from within without direct foreign intervention.

The acting principle is to make disorder self-sustaining until a stable system destroys itself.

Levels 17–18: Prince of Abolition

A Prince of Abolition gains partial authority over Definition and Distortion. They redefine what counts as bribery, corruption, substitution, identity, authority, participation, or the original body, then distort order around that definition.

A harmless action may count as accepting a Bribe. A projection may become the original while the original becomes its substitute. A prepared region may be isolated by altering what counts as inside, outside, law, or protection.

Abolition replaces, overturns, or invalidates selected order through prepared definitions and superior authority.

Advancement requires secretly replacing part of an empire’s original order with a hidden order and maintaining it for three years without being its strongest being.

The acting principle is to abolish an established order by making its own definitions betray it.

Level 19: Black Emperor

Black Emperor is the Pathway’s True God and sovereign of Autocracy, Distortion, Disorder, Exploitation, Definition, Strata, and the Shadow of Order.

The Black Emperor distorts underlying rules, actions, authorities, mystical connections, faith, and causality. Light may become shadow, silence become noise, an entrance become an exit, death turn toward life, and hostile authority be redirected through an exploitable interpretation.

Autocracy makes every hierarchy and rule within the divine order serve the Emperor. Disorder turns thoughts, societies, abilities, and laws into escalating chaos. The Divine Kingdom resembles an Order Hell where strict abnormal rules privilege the ruler.

A Black Emperor can resurrect while the established order and apotheosis arrangements remain. Destroying the divine body and mausoleums may not suffice if enough of the Emperor’s order survives.

Apotheosis requires the Uniqueness, three Prince of Abolition characteristics, possession of a nation, public identification as Emperor, a strict abnormal legal and architectural order, nine secret pyramid mausoleums, and a nationwide sacrificial arrangement.

Other True Gods, the birth of The Anarchy, destruction of the established order, competing definitions, protected anchors, and authority enforcing unambiguous rules can resist.

Core Summary

The Black Emperor Pathway advances from legal persuasion and force to bribery, corruption, disorder, exploitation, entropy, redefinition, autocracy, and resurrection through imposed order. Its greatest strength is making rules serve the ruler. Its defining danger is transforming every institution, relationship, and law into personal power.
