The Creation of the Universe and the Planes
"The Whirl of Creation"
Before what is now known as the Whirl of Creation, reality was nothing more than an infinite primordial darkness. This endless expanse would later become parts of The True Void, The Deep Abyss, The Outer Chasm and The Beyond, realms in which traces of that primordial darkness, light and raw energy still persist.
Within this infinite darkness existed vast, ceaseless flows of primordial energy. These energies were physical, metaphysical, magical, and spiritual in nature, moving in forms akin to aether currents and cosmic oceans. They were constantly in motion, colliding, diverging, blending and altering one another’s paths. Through these interactions, new forms of energy were born and among them, the first energies of light and creation themselves.
In time, a vast accumulation of hybridized energy gained enough momentum to influence all the flows of energy and they began to move in a shared direction, surrounding currents, bending their paths into a massive curve. As this motion intensified, the converging energies formed a great spherical vortex, a whirling convergence of power that would become known as The Whirl of Creation.
From this immense process emerged the outer expanses beyond The Whirl: The True Void, The Deep Abyss, The Outer Chasm and The Beyond. These realms formed from the Whirl itself and came to surround the developing planes of existence. Within these outer regions, the Outer Gods took shape, beings bound to the remnants of primordial darkness, light and energy that almost predates structured reality, observing the unfolding of creation, standing apart as witnesses to the formation of reality.
Within the Whirl, singularities and anomalies gradually condensed and stabilized, shaping themselves into distinct deities, planes and realms. The spaces between and within these forming structures slowly solidified as different energies and newly created matter condensed together in the center, the process forming what is now The Physical Plane.
As The Physical Plane stabilized, it began to flourish. Sapient, sentient and plant life emerged as the Nature Plane and its associated realms formed around it. Through this process came the sun, the moon, the waters and the ability for the stars to be seen within the skies of the Physical Plane.
Alongside these developments, the Holy Plane and the Infernal Plane continued to progress and were nearly fully formed, the deities bound to these planes gradually discovered their identities, purposes and true callings as embodiments of their respective realms.
As the Physical Plane matured further, life continued to spread and diversify. Life itself was shaped by the energies and influences present within reality, arising in part from the sheer existence of the deities and their planes. This influence gave rise to the distinct features found among many humanoid races, animals, beasts and monsters. These beings were not created directly in the image of the gods, but were instead influenced by divine presence, ambient energies and their own environments, though rare exceptions to this did occur. During its maturation, The Spirit Realm had formed over it, creating a partially infused layer over The Physical Plane, functioning as a barrier and a realm for the souls of the dead, varieties of entities, spirits and fae roam.
By the time most of what is now known as the world had reached maturity, the energy of creation had largely been expended. Only in distant regions of The Beyond, where the Outer Deities and other primordial or Outer entities still dwell, does the original energy of light and creation continue to exist in significant measure.
With The True Void, The Deep Abyss, The Outer Chasm and The Beyond surrounding everything, it also fills empty areas around all of the planes and realms, sometimes seeping through cracks, fractures, tears and portals in The Physical Plane, usually to negative effects in one way or another.
