Mereveille, God of Music and Creativity
Domains & Aspects: Music, creativity, art, theater, carnivals, performance, writing, storytelling, craftsmanship, clothing, fashion, fun, celebration, revelry, trade.
Symbols: A quill crossed over a lute; comedy and tragedy mask; a paint brush with a stream of paint flowing off of it crossed over an easel; all three combined.
Realm: The Festivale — Mereveille’s realm is a boundless celebration of artistry and imagination, where every street is alive with color, laughter, and sound. Lanterns of many hues swing above cobblestone roads painted with shifting murals, and stalls brim with enchanted trinkets, masks, and instruments. Great amphitheaters rise out of the earth itself, stages open to the sky, where plays, operas, and symphonies unfurl under heavens that shimmer like painted canvases, ever changing with brush strokes of twilight and dawn. The air hums with laughter, poetry and melodies carried on winds that weave new songs as they pass. Across the land rise grand amphitheaters, open-air stages, circuses of dreamlike design, endless galleries and markets devoted to every form of creativity. At its center stands The Meraviglia, neither fortress nor simple castle, it is a living monument of art. Its towers shimmer like stained glass, its halls echo with eternal music, and its walls are woven from shifting silks and banners. By day, it glitters like a jewel, by night, it glows with lantern like light and mirrored constellations. Within lies a theater large enough for gods, spirits and mortals alike, where entire worlds are conjured with music and stagecraft. A smaller amphitheater exists for more personal plays and songs, where only the truest emotions are bared. He has a large room that holds every instrument ever crafted, from mortal flutes to celestial harps that shape stars. The twin galleries stand eternal, one displaying Mereveille’s boundless creations, the other ever expanding with the works of others he honors from through out the centuries. His private chamber is a sacred space overflowing with canvases, clay, scrolls and ink, the heart of his endless inspiration.
Personality: Mereveille is joyous and radiant, the living embodiment of inspiration. He is clever and witty, often speaking in clever turns of phrase, poetic metaphors, or even slipping into playful rhyme when the moment calls. His nature is expressive and theatrical, shifting easily from grand exuberance to quiet intimacy, much like a performer who understands every stage requires its own mood. Though a master of every instrument, song, and craft, he accepts that not all of his performances are flawless. He is endlessly curious, always seeking new voices, visions, and ideas, finding wonder in even the smallest creation. His laughter is as genuine as his tears, for he feels all emotion deeply and honors them through art. Mereveille prizes authenticity above perfection and holds great respect for those who bare their souls in song, story or paint. Whether mortal or divine, he nurtures creativity wherever it blooms.
