Every aspect of Rebmosian life is touched by the Order: it controls education (scripture fused with engineering), sits in parliament, collects tithes in ether-crystals, and runs the inquisition that roots out “industrial sabotage” and moral decay. Public ceremonies involve mass baptisms in alchemical vats and sermons broadcast via Aetheric loudspeakers, while cathedrals of brass and stained glass dominate every skyline.
Clergy wear flowing white robes with gold trim; their flag is pure white with a gold-trimmed chalice-cog; their crest is a golden halo with wings. In the military, the Order’s elite are the Anointed Templars, armored in powered exo-plate etched with holy runes, wielding blessed ether-rifles that fire consecrated rounds and massive two-handed flails inscribed with psalms. They lead charges, execute summary judgments on the battlefield, and are revered (and feared) as living saints.
Their base of operations is the Staircase to Heaven, an immense city-fortress built into a mile-high escarpment on the northeastern Anointed continent. Tier upon tier of white marble walls, golden domes, and sky-piercing spires rise like a colossal staircase, each level a district of cathedrals, scriptoria, and barracks.
