Glassback Beetles — Fist-sized insects with crystalline, impact-glass-like shells, drawn to heat sources. A minor nuisance to miners; shed carapaces are sometimes worked into jewelry. Cinderworms — Rare, heat-tolerant burrowing creatures found deep in the mining tunnels. Mostly harmless scavengers, though large swarms can strip organic material fast enough to genuinely endanger unwary miners. Slagcats — Small, resilient feral cats that have adapted to the crater's heat and ash, kept semi-deliberately by miners as pest control; genuinely beloved despite their scruffy appearance.
