FACTIONS

The Cult of Hunger — Status: scattered and largely defeated following Campaign 1's events, though not necessarily destroyed as a broader organization. Remnants may resurface in later Acts.

The Ashen Hand — Cinderbruk's monster hunters' guild. Reputable, well-organized, a strong source of bounty work and a plausible ally faction for future arcs. Maintains a trophy hall and quartermaster service dealing in exotic hides and materials.

Mournspire's Iron Judiciary — The fused legal and religious authority governing Mournspire under Kaldrath's doctrine, currently led by High Warden Ossane Drell. Not inherently villainous, but rigid, insular, and currently sitting on an unexplained phenomenon (the green smoke) it hasn't publicly addressed.

The Kataclan Serpent Cult (GM Secret — Act 4) — Remnants of Kataclan Ruins' original worshippers, still active somewhere in the deeper ruins. Reserve all details for Act 4.

Panshaw's Merchant Guild — Politically influential, economically dominant, generally favoring stability over ideology. A useful neutral or mildly self-interested faction for city-politics subplots.

The Stone-Council of Khazad-Grom — Hereditary governance of old mining and smithing families, cautious and insular, currently watching Mournspire's unexplained developments with more concern than they're publicly admitting to.

The Dawnkeepers — Meri's loose regional clergy network, led locally by figures like Panshaw's Father Aldous. Not a political faction in the traditional sense, but genuinely influential through sheer breadth of public trust.

NOTABLE HISTORICAL FIGURES

High Warden Ossane Drell — Current head of Mournspire's Iron Judiciary; severe, precise, scrupulously fair by her city's own standards. Overseer Bram Halloway — Cinderbruk's elected Overseer, a pragmatic former miner popular for understanding the conditions he now regulates. Lord Ansel Brightwater — Panshaw's current Chief Magistrate; competent, unremarkable, widely understood as a placeholder figure. Father Aldous — Panshaw's Dawnkeeper, who raised Elzedar Mon; kind, quietly perceptive, more observant than he lets on.
