Region: East-central jungle | Patron faith: Unknown/pre-pantheon | Governance: None recognized by outside authorities; internal structure unknown
A sprawling, ancient ruined civilization swallowed by dense jungle — crumbling towers, broken archways, and a great stepped pyramid carved with worn serpent motifs. Home to remnants of a serpent-god cult (see Book Six) — reserved as the intended centerpiece of Act 4.
To outsiders, Kataclan Ruins is treasure-hunting territory and little else — expeditions go in with reasonable regularity, return with mixed success, and the whole enterprise has developed its own small, superstitious culture in Ruins-End and among Panshaw's more adventurous merchants. What actually happens deeper in the ruins is deliberately left undetailed here.
