YLLITH, KEEPER OF STARS

Domains: Knowledge, Arcana | Alignment: Neutral Symbol: An open book with a single star above each page Holy Day: Longsight, the clearest night of winter, spent cataloguing stars

History and Character

Worship of Yllith is rare in the traditional sense; citation is common instead. Scholars, archivists, and wizards treat Yllith less as a deity to petition and more as a standard to be held to — the god of double-checking your sources, essentially, elevated to genuine cosmological principle. Panshaw's cathedral archive annex falls under loose Yllith patronage, a detail worth remembering given how much unusual time Magistrate Vance spends there.

Notable Myth — "The Burned Library"

Yllith is said to have once let an entire library burn rather than intervene directly, on the principle that knowledge preserved through divine interference stops being trustworthy knowledge. Scholars still argue about whether this makes Yllith admirably principled or simply unhelpful in a crisis — an argument Yllith's faith generally considers to be, itself, the point.

Relationships

Loosely affiliated with everyone, formally allied with no one.

Taboo

Deliberately destroying true records — not lying, considered merely human, but destroying the evidence that could correct a lie — is Yllith's one genuinely hard line.
