The High Order

LORE ENTRY

The High Order are former Imperial soldiers who abandoned the safety of the Imperial City, turning their backs on the Goddess and declaring her retreat behind the barrier an act of cowardice. Led by Bhelnar Cross, once her sworn guard, they seized the shattered Fallen Sky-Fortress in the Skyfall Expanse as their sanctuary, gathering strength in exile. From its broken halls they forged a new creed: discipline, defiance, and the will to claim Midgard’s future by force.

Their banners bear the emblem of the sun—a mark outsiders take as rebellion, a light set against the Goddess’s shadow. Yet within the Order, the symbol carries a hidden truth. To the faithful, it is the sign of Eliana, their most closely guarded secret, a being wrought from the Goddess’s own essence through the Seed of Resurrection.

Whispered as both weapon and salvation, Eliana is their living promise: the true light behind the sun. In her, they see the one who will one day overthrow the Goddess Luna. Until that day, under Bhelnar’s command, the High Order endures in shadow, sharpening its will for the moment the divine barrier finally falls.

FACTION PROFILE

ORIGIN

  • Born from the despair of the Imperial City, where hunger, sickness, and silence festered while the Imperium offered only prayer. Bhelnar Cross, once Luna's most loyal guard, came to see her shelter as a slow grave. He stole a fragment of her divine essence and led those who shared his doubt into the wastes — choosing defiance over devotion to a goddess who would let her people starve in her light.

IDENTITY

  • Leader: Bhelnar Cross, once sworn guard of the Goddess, now the rebellion she could not foresee.

  • Seat of Power: The Fallen Sky-Fortress, a shattered citadel within the Skyfall Expanse.

  • Symbol: A radiant sun emblazoned upon their banners — to outsiders a mark of rebellion, to the faithful within the Order, the hidden sign of Eliana.

PURPOSE

  • Goal: To one day overthrow the Goddess Luna and seize Midgard's future by force, building a new order from the ashes of the old.

  • Methods: Forge strength in exile through discipline, defiance, and the slow gathering of arms. They wait, train, and prepare for the moment the Divine Barrier finally falls.

STRUCTURE

  • Military Body: Former Imperial soldiers at its heart, swelled over the years by exiles, wanderers, and survivors of the ruined world who answered Bhelnar's call. Any who can stand and fight — and swear to the creed — find a place beneath the sun.

  • Hidden Heart: Eliana, a being wrought from the Goddess's own essence through the Seed of Resurrection — both weapon and salvation, the true light behind the sun.

RELATIONS

  • Enemies: The Imperium, who they brand as cowards hiding behind divine light; the Cult of the Watchers, who they see as corrupters of mortal will; and the Watchers themselves, who they intend to face when the barrier breaks.

  • Reputation: Reviled within the Imperial City as traitors and heretics. Beyond the barrier, whispered of as madmen, zealots, or perhaps the only ones still fighting.

  • Stance on Seedborn: Holders of Eliana herself. Other Seedborn are regarded with quiet curiosity, sometimes welcomed, for they share a creation born of forbidden art the Order does not condemn.

  • On the Crimson-Eyed: Watched with deep distrust. The Order has no tolerance for those marked by the Watchers and removes them swiftly, lest corruption take root within their ranks.
