Magical Rank Device of the Exodia Inquisition
The Eye of the Inquisition is a sacred magical device issued to every member of the Exodia Inquisition. It serves as both a rank insignia and a communication artifact, allowing members of the Inquisition to track one another across the world.
The Eye appears as a small enchanted metal orb roughly the size of a coin, usually worn on armor, robes, or cloaks. Some inquisitors embed it in their gauntlet or collar. The orb is magically bound to its owner and cannot be used by another person.
The orb contains a carved symbol of an eye surrounded by a faint halo. As a member rises through the ranks of the Inquisition, the eye slowly awakens, symbolizing the growing authority and divine sight granted by the church.
Lower ranks possess an eye that is completely closed. As rank increases, the eyelids slowly open, eventually revealing a fully glowing eye capable of projecting maps and locating other inquisitors.
The Eye can also magnetically attract nearby Eyes, allowing inquisitors to find one another in cities, battlefields, or wilderness.
Every Eye of the Inquisition shares several magical properties.
The orb is bound to the owner’s soul and cannot be removed without consent.
It allows inquisitors to sense nearby Eyes belonging to other members.
It acts as a proof of rank and identity within the church.
It cannot be forged or copied.
Higher-ranking Eyes possess additional powers, including the ability to track multiple inquisitors across vast distances.
Ranks: Acolytes, Initiates, and junior recruits
At the lowest level the Eye appears as a smooth orb with a faint engraving of a closed eye.
The orb emits a soft silver glow and can only sense nearby Eyes within a few hundred meters. When another inquisitor approaches, the orb gently vibrates and becomes slightly warm.
Initiates mainly use the Eye to prove they belong to the Inquisition and to locate nearby allies during training or patrol.
Ranks: Inquisitors and Paladins
At this stage the eyelids of the orb appear slightly parted, forming a narrow glowing slit.
The Eye can now sense other inquisitors within several kilometers and will softly pull toward nearby Eyes like a compass.
When activated by the user, the orb can briefly display a directional glow, pointing toward the nearest inquisitor.
This feature is especially useful during hunts for demon cults or monsters.
Ranks: High Inquisitors and experienced commanders
The orb’s eye now opens halfway and glows with a pale golden light.
At this stage the Eye gains the ability to project faint magical map fragments. When held in the hand, the orb can display a glowing terrain map showing the approximate positions of nearby inquisitors.
High Inquisitors use this ability to coordinate large monster hunts or track multiple squads during investigations.
The orb’s halo engraving also becomes brighter, symbolizing increased authority.
Ranks: Arch Inquisitors and major commanders
The eye of the orb opens fully for the first time.
A clear glowing pupil appears within the orb, emitting golden light that pulses slowly like a heartbeat.
The Eye can now project a three-dimensional map of nearby territories, showing the location of multiple inquisitors at once. Each inquisitor appears as a small glowing halo symbol.
Arch Inquisitors use these maps to coordinate regional operations, including large crusades or demon lord hunts.
The orb can track members across entire provinces.
Ranks: Grand Inquisitors and supreme commanders
At this level the orb becomes extremely luminous.
The eye glows with radiant gold light while the halo surrounding it spins slowly like a celestial ring.
The Radiant Eye can display continental maps, showing the positions of inquisitors across large sections of the world.
It can also send magical signals to summon nearby inquisitors during emergencies.
These orbs often serve as the command centers during major crusades.
Rank: The Pope
The @Holy Pontiff Aurelius IV possesses the only Halo Eye, a unique artifact representing ultimate authority within the Inquisition.
The orb’s eye is fully open and surrounded by twelve small halos rotating around the pupil, representing the Twelve Saints.
When activated, the Halo Eye can display a global map showing every Eye currently active across the world.
It allows the Pontiff to track major operations, monitor crusades, and coordinate the Inquisition across continents.
Some believe the Halo Eye also allows the Pope to sense the presence of demon lords, though this power is rarely confirmed.
