@Plantfolk are one of the most widespread and mysterious races in the world. Unlike most races tied to a single homeland, plantfolk can be found almost anywhere vegetation grows—deep forests, jungles, plains, wetlands, and even quiet gardens within cities.
Their bodies resemble humanoid shapes made of living plant matter. Some possess bark-like skin similar to trees, others have vines forming their limbs, while some appear covered in leaves, flowers, moss, or roots. Their appearance often changes depending on the environment they grow within.
Many plantfolk consider themselves not separate from nature but a living extension of it.
Because of this connection, plantfolk societies rarely form large cities or kingdoms. Instead they live in groves, forest communities, or wandering nature circles where they protect and nurture the land around them.
Plantfolk bodies function very differently from most living creatures. Their skin acts much like plant tissue, capable of absorbing sunlight, water, and nutrients from the soil or environment.
Sunlight strengthens them, water refreshes them, and rich soil allows them to grow stronger. Because of this, many plantfolk enjoy standing in sunlight for long periods or resting in damp earth where their roots can touch the soil.
Although they can eat like other races, many plantfolk gain much of their energy from natural elements rather than food alone.
They also tend to feel physical discomfort when environments become polluted, burned, or stripped of plant life.
Plantfolk possess one of the most unusual reproductive systems among intelligent races.
They can reproduce asexually, much like plants themselves. A plantfolk may grow a seed, sprout, or budding root that eventually develops into a new plantfolk individual.
However, plantfolk can also reproduce with any other race—humans, beastfolk, elves, dwarves, and many others.
Regardless of the partner species, the child is always born as a plantfolk.
These offspring often inherit visual traits related to both parents. For example, a plantfolk born from a beastfolk may grow leaf-like ears or vine-shaped tails. One born from a human may resemble a humanoid with bark skin and glowing green eyes.
Because of this reproductive trait, plantfolk have spread widely across the world.
Plantfolk value nature above all else. Their priorities rarely align with political conflicts or kingdom rivalries.
Most plantfolk do not care about borders, royal authority, or human laws. Instead they judge civilizations based on how they treat the natural world.
If a kingdom protects forests and respects the balance of nature, plantfolk may quietly assist them. If a civilization destroys forests or poisons the land, plantfolk may oppose it—even if it means supporting their enemies.
Many plantfolk are calm, patient, and nurturing, reflecting the slow and enduring nature of plants themselves.
They enjoy sunlight, rainfall, fertile soil, and peaceful environments filled with wildlife.
Plantfolk gained great respect within the modern world because of Saint Yulia, one of the legendary Twelve @Saint who ended the Demon Age.
Yulia was a plantfolk healer whose connection to nature allowed her to perform miracles of restoration. She could heal terrible wounds, restore dying forests, and purify poisoned land.
Among the Twelve Saints she was considered the greatest healer.
Because of her legacy, the Exodia Inquisition holds plantfolk in high regard. Many plantfolk serve as healers, herbalists, or caretakers of sacred groves protected by Exodia.
While most plantfolk are peaceful guardians of nature, not all share the same temperament.
Some plantfolk descend from carnivorous plants such as venus flytraps, pitcher plants, or thorned vines. These individuals tend to be more aggressive and predatory.
Carnivorous plantfolk often possess sharp vine tendrils, thorn-covered limbs, or jaws formed from plant structures capable of capturing prey.
They are still intelligent beings, but their instincts lean more toward hunting and territorial defense.
Some serve as powerful warriors or protectors of deep forest regions where outsiders rarely survive.
Plantfolk exist across nearly every forested region of @Fallen Lotus Lands, @Oktoberland, and beyond. Some live quietly among other races, while others remain in ancient forest communities hidden from the outside world.
Because they do not care about political power or wealth, plantfolk often act as neutral observers of the world’s conflicts.
They judge civilizations not by their strength, but by how they treat the land itself.
To plantfolk, kingdoms will rise and fall, empires will crumble, and wars will come and go.
But the forest endures.
And the children of the green will always remain where life continues to grow.
