The Aerial Legions of the Exodia Inquisition

The Aerial Legions of the Exodia Inquisition

Official Name: The Haloed Wings
Role: Holy Air Military of the Church of the Twelve Saints

Origins

After the fall of the Demon Age and the rise of the Exodia Inquisition, the church realized that control of the skies would be essential in defending civilization from demon remnants, monster migrations, and distant threats across the continents of @Oktoberland.

Dragons were the most powerful flying creatures known, but they were extremely rare and belonged primarily to the Pendragon Empire of Dragoon Island, where dragon riders formed their own independent military tradition.

Because dragons could not be relied upon in large numbers, the Exodia Inquisition instead built their air forces around two sacred creatures that could be bred and trained across many lands:

@Griffon
@Pegasus

These creatures became the backbone of the Haloed Wings, the aerial arm of the Exodia military.

The Haloed Wings

The Haloed Wings serve several vital roles across the world.

They act as:

Sky patrol forces
Rapid-response units
Messenger couriers
Monster hunting squadrons
Battlefield reconnaissance
Aerial strike forces

Their greatest strength is mobility. When remote towns or frontier settlements face danger, griffon or pegasus riders can reach them far faster than any ground army.

The presence of Haloed Wings patrols is often enough to deter bandits, pirates, and even certain monsters.

Griffon Riders

@Griffon are powerful aerial predators with the body of a lion and the wings and head of an eagle.

They are aggressive, territorial, and extremely loyal once bonded with a rider.

Because of their strength and ferocity, griffons are used primarily for combat roles.

Griffon Rider Duties

Griffon riders form the main aerial strike force of the Exodia Inquisition.

They specialize in:

Aerial combat
Monster hunting
Rapid strike attacks
Battlefield disruption
Enemy scouting

Griffons can dive from high altitude at terrifying speed, allowing riders to strike enemies with lances, spears, or enchanted weapons before climbing back into the sky.

Many griffon riders wear specialized armor designed to withstand wind and high-speed combat.

Pegasus Riders

@Pegasus are majestic winged horses associated with purity and divine magic.

Unlike griffons, pegasi are calm, intelligent, and strongly connected to holy magic.

Because of this, they are often ridden by:

Clerics
Paladins
Holy knights
Priests of the Twelve Saints

Pegasus Rider Duties

Pegasus riders serve more specialized roles such as:

Sacred escorts for high-ranking clergy
Messenger couriers across kingdoms
Aerial healers in battlefields
Protection of pilgrim caravans
Reconnaissance and observation

@Pegasus are not as aggressive as griffons but are far more agile and capable of incredible long-distance flight.

Some pegasi can even fly at high altitudes where normal creatures struggle to breathe.

The Sky Bastions

Across the world, the Exodia Inquisition maintains massive aerial fortresses known as Sky Bastions.

These structures are usually built on:

High mountain peaks
Sacred plateaus
Massive cathedral towers

Each bastion contains:

Griffon stables
Pegasus sanctuaries
Aerial training arenas
Landing platforms
Signal towers

From these bastions, the Haloed Wings patrol enormous territories.

Training of Riders

Becoming a rider in the Haloed Wings is extremely difficult.

Candidates must master:

Mounted combat
Aerial navigation
Creature bonding rituals
Survival in extreme altitude
Faith in the Twelve Saints

Riders undergo years of training before bonding with their flying partner.

The bond between rider and creature is considered sacred and often lasts for life.

Equipment

Haloed Wing riders use specialized equipment designed for aerial combat.

Common equipment includes:

Sky lances for diving attacks
Wing saddles with magical stabilization
Feather-light armor to reduce weight
Signal flares and holy beacons
Wind-resistant cloaks bearing the halo symbol

Some elite riders carry halo-forged weapons blessed by the church.

Strategic Importance

Because @Griffon and @Pegasus can travel enormous distances quickly, the Haloed Wings allow the Exodia Inquisition to maintain influence across distant regions.

When monsters attack remote settlements or demon cults emerge, griffon riders are often the first military force to respond.

Their presence also allows the church to maintain surveillance over powerful cities and kingdoms.

Cultural Status

Haloed Wing riders are widely admired and respected across the world.

To many civilians, the sight of @Griffon or @Pegasus soaring across the sky represents divine protection and hope.

Children often grow up dreaming of becoming riders of the Haloed Wings.
