The Red Union

The Red Union — The Pact of Survival

In the frozen, unforgiving north of @Oktoberland rises a nation unlike any other—the @Red Union, a land not built on faith, monarchy, or freedom, but on a single, unbreakable principle:

Survive together… or perish alone.

Forged in the ashes of the Demon Age, the Red Union is a remnant of a time when demon lords ruled openly and the world bent under their power. When that age ended, most nations sought to purge all traces of that darkness.

The Red Union chose a different path.

They embraced it.

Origins of the Union

The Red Union began as scattered survivors—humans, tieflings, and outcasts—left behind in the harsh northern wastes where no kingdom would claim them. Resources were scarce, the cold was relentless, and death was constant.

In desperation, they turned to the only power that could guarantee survival:

Demon Lords willing to make contracts.

But unlike the chaos of the old Demon Age, these pacts were different. They were structured, controlled, and mutual. The people would offer loyalty, labor, and obedience. In return, the demon lords would provide power, protection, and—most importantly—abundance in a land that had none.

From these agreements, the Red Union was born.

Doctrine of the Red Union

The Red Union is built on a harsh but effective ideology:

There is no individual above the collective.
There is no freedom without survival.
There is no survival without sacrifice.

Every citizen is part of the whole. Food, labor, and resources are distributed based on need and contribution. Wealth is not hoarded—it is controlled.

Equality exists—but not as comfort.

It exists as shared hardship.

No one starves alone.
No one thrives alone.

Rule of the Demon Pacts

The Red Union is governed through a layered system of authority:

At the top are the contract-bound Demon Lords, hidden or semi-visible rulers who provide power to the nation. They do not rule openly like tyrants of old, but through binding agreements with human leadership.

Below them sits the Central Command, a governing body of generals, administrators, and pact-bound officials who enforce the will of the Union.

Every major city contains Contract Halls, where these pacts are renewed, enforced, and sometimes expanded. Glowing sigils mark these locations, radiating power that sustains the surrounding population.

The people know the truth.

Their strength, their warmth, their survival—
all come from these pacts.

And breaking them would mean collapse.

Land of Extremes

The Red Union exists in one of the harshest environments in the world.

Bitter cold dominates the land
Mountains of ice and stone block natural expansion
Resources are limited and difficult to extract

To survive, the Union has reshaped the land itself.

Cities are carved into cliffs and mountains, protected from wind and exposure. Massive furnaces burn deep within the earth, powered by both industry and demonic energy, providing heat and sustaining life.

Roads are cut through ice and rock, linking settlements in a rigid, controlled network. Every structure is built for endurance.

Nothing is wasted.
Everything serves a purpose.

Society and People

The people of the Red Union are hardened beyond normal limits.

They are disciplined, efficient, and unwavering. Emotion is not absent—but it is controlled. Loyalty to the Union is absolute, not out of blind faith, but because they understand the alternative.

Without the Union, they die.

Tieflings, once outcasts in many lands, find a place here, often rising in rank due to their natural affinity with demonic power. Humans and other accepted peoples live alongside them, bound not by race, but by necessity.

There is no room for weakness—
but there is also no abandonment.

Military Power

The Red Union’s military is relentless.

Soldiers fight with a combination of:

Conventional weapons
Industrial war machines
Demon-enhanced abilities

They are not flashy or heroic. They are efficient.

Every battle is calculated. Every loss is accounted for. Every victory is used to strengthen the whole.

They do not seek glory.
They seek continuation.

Relationship with the World

To outsiders, the Red Union is unsettling.

The Exodia Inquisition views them with deep suspicion, seeing their continued use of demon pacts as a dangerous echo of the past. Yet the Union has not collapsed, nor has it descended into chaos.

Instead, it has stabilized.

That alone makes it dangerous.

Other nations trade with them cautiously, knowing the Union controls valuable resources and strategic positions in the north. At the same time, few trust them fully.

Because everyone knows:

The Red Union’s strength is not entirely its own.

The Quiet Truth

The Union walks a knife’s edge.

Its survival depends on the balance between control and corruption. The demon lords within its system are contained—for now—but they are not powerless.

If the balance breaks, the Union could fall back into the chaos of the Demon Age.

Or worse…
it could become something even more controlled, more unified, and more unstoppable than before.

Atmosphere

The Red Union is cold, disciplined, and unyielding.

Furnaces burn beneath frozen skies.
Cities glow with sigils in the dark.
Marching boots echo through carved stone halls.

It is not a land of comfort.

It is a land that refuses to die.
