The Underworld League

The Underworld League

The Shadow Guild of the World

The Underworld League is the dark mirror of the The Adventurer League. Where the Adventurer League offers quests to heroes, the Underworld League provides work to criminals, assassins, demon servants, smugglers, spies, and rebels. It operates across @Fallen Lotus Lands, @Dragoon Island, and @Oktoberland, hidden beneath cities, taverns, ruins, and secret guild halls.

The League first appeared during the Demon Age under the rule of the succubus demon lord Rhanki, who created an organization known as the Underworld League to command her followers. Instead of armies alone, Rhanki preferred using agents who could travel anywhere, infiltrate kingdoms, and carry out secret tasks. She issued missions to thieves, killers, and monsters, rewarding them with gold, power, and demonic contracts.

Ironically, the famous saint Oscar Brussa infiltrated this organization while disguised as an adventurer. He used the League’s network to secretly recruit the heroes who would later become the Twelve Saints. After Rhanki was defeated, Oscar later founded the Adventurer League, turning the concept into a heroic guild.

But the Underworld League never truly disappeared.

Criminals, demon worshipers, and anti-Exodia factions kept the structure alive in secret. Over the centuries it evolved into a hidden global network where illegal work could be bought and sold.

Today the Underworld League thrives in the shadows.

Who Uses the Underworld League

Many factions secretly rely on the Underworld League.

The Red Union regularly hires its members to assassinate Exodia officers, sabotage kingdoms, and recruit new demon lord followers. Some independent kingdoms and city states use the League for tasks they cannot officially acknowledge, such as espionage, sabotage, or political assassinations.

The League also serves those rejected by the Sanctified world. Tieflings, Oni, exiled races, smugglers, pirates, vampires, and other outcasts often find refuge in its ranks. Some members even claim they fight for the oppressed against the authority of Exodia.

Of course, many simply do it for money.

Ranking System of the Underworld League

Unlike the Adventurer League, which ranks heroes from F to S, the Underworld League ranks its members in reverse order from U to Z.

A U Rank operative is considered a beginner criminal. These individuals perform small crimes such as smuggling, pickpocketing, scouting, or delivering illegal goods.

As members gain reputation and complete more dangerous contracts, they climb through the ranks toward Z Rank.

A Z Rank operative is among the most infamous criminals in the world. These individuals often carry enormous bounties across multiple kingdoms. Many Z rank members are master assassins, powerful demon servants, rogue mages, or legendary criminals.

Some Z ranks become so feared that entire cities place rewards for their capture.

Mission Payment System

Just like the Adventurer League, the Underworld League uses Challenge Rating (CR) to determine payment. The more dangerous the mission, the greater the reward.

Low level operations such as theft, information gathering, or smuggling typically range from CR 1 to CR 3. These jobs usually pay between 10 and 50 Silver Halo depending on risk.

Mid-tier missions like sabotage, kidnappings, or monster smuggling fall between CR 4 and CR 8, paying anywhere from 1 Pure Halo to 5 Pure Halo.

Dangerous operations such as assassinations, prison breaks, or attacking Exodia forces fall into CR 9 to CR 14, with rewards reaching 10 to 50 Pure Halo depending on the target.

The most infamous missions are CR 15 to CR 20, often involving killing high ranking officials, demon lord conspiracies, or destabilizing entire kingdoms. These contracts can pay hundreds of Pure Halo, magical artifacts, or powerful demonic contracts.

Some CR 20 contracts are so dangerous that completing them instantly elevates a criminal to Z Rank status.

Reputation and Bounties

The more contracts a member completes, the more infamous they become. Reputation within the Underworld League spreads quickly through secret contacts and coded messages.

However, fame in the Underworld comes with a price.

The higher a criminal rises in rank, the larger their bounty becomes across Exodia territories. Many Z rank criminals are hunted by entire Adventurer League parties or even Exodia Inquisitors.

Some Underworld members enjoy this notoriety.

Others spend their lives hiding from it.

The Underworld Today

The Underworld League remains one of the most powerful secret organizations in the world. Its agents operate in shadows beneath taverns, criminal ports, hidden guild halls, and demon-aligned territories.

To the common people, it is nothing more than rumor and whispered legend.

To those who live in the darker side of the world, it is simply another place to find work.

Where heroes accept quests to save kingdoms, the Underworld League offers contracts for those willing to break them.

Underworld League Ranking System

The Underworld League ranks its operatives using a system that moves in reverse of heroic guilds. While the Adventurer League celebrates heroes from F Rank to S Rank, the Underworld League classifies criminals from U Rank to Z Rank, symbolizing the descent into deeper levels of notoriety and danger. Advancement is not based on honor or virtue, but on infamy, successful contracts, and fear reputation.

A U Rank member is a beginner in the criminal world. These individuals are often thieves, smugglers, fence runners, or street informants. Their work is small and mostly local, involving pickpocketing, contraband transport, or spying on merchants. Many U ranks are new recruits, desperate outcasts, or young criminals seeking quick coin.

A V Rank criminal has proven capable of more serious work. They may carry out burglaries, blackmail operations, or sabotage missions. These operatives often work in small crews and begin forming reputations within underground circles. At this stage many begin to attract the attention of local guards or bounty hunters.

A W Rank operative is a seasoned criminal. They perform dangerous work such as assassinations, monster smuggling, kidnapping, and illegal magical trade. W ranks often operate across multiple cities and may command small criminal gangs. Their names begin appearing on bounty boards within Exodia territories.

An X Rank member is considered an elite operative of the Underworld. These criminals are capable of carrying out complex operations like political assassinations, prison breaks, artifact theft, and sabotage against military forces. X ranks often possess strong combat abilities or powerful magic. Entire Adventurer League parties may be hired to hunt them.

A Y Rank criminal is a legendary figure within the Underworld. These individuals control criminal networks, command powerful followers, and often work directly with powerful factions such as the Red Union, rogue nobles, or demon lords. Y ranks have enormous bounties across multiple nations and are rarely seen in public.

Finally there is Z Rank, the highest and most feared classification in the Underworld League. A Z Rank criminal is among the most infamous individuals alive. These figures may be demon lords, master assassins, rogue archmages, warlords, or legendary thieves capable of destabilizing entire kingdoms. Their names are known across continents, and their bounties often reach hundreds or even thousands of Pure Halo. Entire military units or saint-level adventurers may be deployed to capture or kill them.
