Vampires were created during the ancient Age of Monsters, long before the Demon Age and the rise of the Twelve Saints. When the Monster of Darkness descended upon the world and began spreading corrupting power across the land, many unnatural beings were born from its influence.
Among the most dangerous creations were the @Vampire.
These beings were mortals transformed by dark power into creatures that possessed incredible physical strength, immortality, and powerful magical abilities. The transformation granted them control over shadow magic, heightened senses, and supernatural durability.
However, the power came with severe weaknesses.
Vampires became creatures bound to darkness itself.
A vampire appears mostly human but often has pale skin, sharp fangs, glowing or predatory eyes, and an unnatural grace in movement. Their bodies are sustained not by ordinary food but by drinking blood.
Blood strengthens them and fuels their magic.
Vampires possess many advantages over ordinary mortals. They heal rapidly, move with unnatural speed, and possess magical abilities far beyond what most individuals can achieve.
Because of these abilities, vampires frequently rise to positions of power if they are not destroyed.
But they are also bound by powerful supernatural limitations.
The greatest weakness of vampires is sunlight.
Direct sunlight burns their bodies severely and can destroy them if exposure lasts too long. Because of this, vampires almost always operate at night or remain hidden during daylight hours.
Another strange limitation is that vampires cannot enter a home or building unless invited by someone inside. This ancient magical rule binds all vampires, preventing them from freely entering private dwellings without permission.
These restrictions make vampires powerful but also vulnerable creatures.
Vampires reproduce through infection.
When a vampire feeds on a person and transfers their corrupted blood, the victim may transform into a vampire themselves. This transformation happens very quickly compared to many other supernatural conditions.
A victim may become a vampire within minutes or a few hours depending on the strength of the vampire that infected them.
Once transformed, the new vampire becomes linked to the one who created them.
Newly created vampires often become thralls of the vampire who infected them. Thralls are bound to their creator's will and must obey them.
However, this bond is not permanent.
If the original vampire who created the thralls is destroyed, the vampires that served under them gain complete freedom. Once free, they can act independently and even begin creating thralls of their own.
Because of this chain-like infection system, a single vampire can eventually create entire networks of blood-bound followers.
During the Demon Age, demon lords frequently used vampires as elite servants. Their immortality and magical abilities made them perfect generals, spies, and rulers of conquered territories.
However, vampires rarely remained loyal forever.
Many vampires eventually attempted to seize power for themselves, ruling over mortals as predators feeding upon their populations.
Because of this ambition, vampires became widely feared and hated across many civilizations.
One of the longest and most violent rivalries in history exists between vampires and lycans.
These two supernatural races have fought countless battles throughout history. @Lycans often see vampires as manipulative predators who enslave people through blood magic. Vampires, on the other hand, see lycans as uncontrollable beasts driven by instinct rather than intellect.
Although open warfare between them is rare in the modern age, their relationship remains deeply hostile.
Many vampires and lycans still treat one another as natural enemies.
After the fall of the demon lords and the beginning of the Sanctified Cycle, vampires lost much of their political power.
The Exodia Inquisition began hunting vampire rulers and destroying their kingdoms. Many vampire strongholds were burned or purified through holy magic.
Most surviving vampires now live alone or in small hidden groups.
They are widely considered monsters, feared by common people and watched carefully by authorities.
Despite their dark origins, not all vampires oppose the Sanctified world.
Some vampires chose to aid the Exodia Inquisition, helping hunt demon lords and other monsters. These individuals often act as powerful night operatives who can fight creatures that normal soldiers cannot.
Exodia tolerates these vampires but keeps them under close watch. Any vampire suspected of secretly creating thralls or feeding recklessly may be hunted down immediately.
Trust between @The Holy Exodia Empire and vampires is fragile at best.
Today vampires remain scattered across the world, existing mostly in secrecy.
Some live hidden among mortal societies, carefully controlling their hunger. Others dwell in ruins, castles, or underground lairs far from human settlements.
They are creatures of immense power but also eternal isolation.
To most people they are dangerous monsters born from the darkness of ancient times.
Yet some vampires still walk the world seeking purpose—either as predators ruling from the shadows or as reluctant allies fighting against the darkness that created them.
