Cat-Like Lynians:Felyne, Goruru, Melynx, Metaru, Grimalkyne,WudwudHumanoid Lynians:Shakalaka, King Shakalaka, Cha-Cha, Kayamba, Gajalaka, Boaboa, Uruki

Lynians (Japanese: 獣人種 Jūjinshu, "Beastman species") are intelligent creatures, typically of short stature, that appear to be mammalian. Living in tribes, they share common cultures, dialects, and have recognized leaders. Lynians can be divided into cats (Melynx, Felyne, and Grimalkyne), apes (Uriki, Shakalaka, Gajalaka and Boaboa), and mustelids (Wudwud). Although the apes are somewhat primitive, the cats are typically peaceful and often coexist with humans.

Type: Herbivore / 草食種

MHW-Aptonoth Render 001

Herbivores:Apceros, Aptonoth, Aptonoth EX, Kelbi, Mosswine, Anteka, Popo, Epioth, Rhenoplos, Slagtoth, Larinoth, Moofah, Kestodon, Gastodon, Gowngoat, Ceratonoth, Dalthydon, Rafma, Burukku, Erupe

Herbivores (Japanese: 草食種 Sōshokushu) are animals that feeds on plants. Most other creatures prey on herbivores, as they are often abundant. Herbivores are typically passive, and therefore pose little threat to a hunter. Within the Herbivore class there are both mammalian and reptilian creatures.

Type: Fish / 魚類

MH3-Fishes

Fishes:Fish, Gajau

Fishes (Japanese: 魚類 Gyorui) are limbless, cold-blooded vertebrates with gills and fins, living wholly in water. A variety of species exist, and they can be classified as migratory fish (Japanese 回遊魚 Kaiyūgyo), swimming fish (Japanese 遊泳魚 Yūeigyo) and carnivorous fish (Japanese 肉食魚 Nikushokugyo). Fish are fed on by numerous other aquatic, or semiaquatic, creatures.

Type: Wingdrake / 翼竜種

MHW-Barnos Render 001

Wingdrakes:Barnos, Mernos, Noios, Raphinos, Cortos, Baunos, Harpios

Wingdrakes (Japanese: 翼竜種 Yokuryūshu) are small wyvern-like creatures, often resembling birds or pterosaurs. Using a grappling hook, a wingdrake can be hooked onto and used as a method of transportation.

Type: Neopteron / 甲虫種

MH4-Seltas Render 001

Neopterons:Vespoid, Queen Vespoid, Hornetaur, Great Thunderbug, Altaroth, Bnahabra, Thanksalot Bnahabra, Konchu, Seltas, Desert Seltas, Seltas Queen, Desert Seltas Queen, Ahtal-Ka, Bulaqchi, Comaqchi, Lightenna, Poikilos Lightenna, Great Dracophage Bug

Neopterons (Japanese: 甲虫種 Kōchūshu, "Beetle species") are insectoid monsters known for their rigid carapaces. As such, they bear a passing resemblance to the other arthropod-like monsters, the arachnoid-like Temnocerans and crustacean-like Carapaceons, although they are fundamentally different. Neopteron monsters can range in size from tiny to enormous, and some species can fly, while others cannot. Neopterons are also usually very susceptible to poison and fire, yet hold quite a resistance to the Dragon Element. Their materials are often used to make very sharp weapons.

Type: Temnoceran / 鋏角種

MH4-Nerscylla Render 001

Temnocerans:Nerscylla Hatchling, Nerscylla, Shrouded Nerscylla, Rachnoid, Rakna-Kadaki, Pyrantula, Pyre Rakna-Kadaki, Lala Barina

Temnocerans (Japanese 鋏角種 Kyōkakushu, "Chelicerate species") are a class of monster first introduced in Monster Hunter 4. This class is characterized by its arachnoid characteristics, such as the ability to produce silk, though some of them, unlike normal arachnids, have only six limbs, similarly to the insect-like Neopterons or the crustacean-like Carapaceons. However, some Temnocerans have been noted to have eight limbs, such as the Rakna-Kadaki.

Bird Wyverns (Japanese: 鳥竜種 Chōryūshu) are a class of monsters introduced in the first generation. They are a small to medium sized class that includes wyverns with slender bodies that are bipedal and, in some cases, either have wings or lack wings, have feathers or lack thereof.

There are three distinct infraorders of Bird Wyverns: Bird Wyverns, Runner Wyverns and True Birds. Bird Wyverns have a bipedal stance along with developed and functional wings. Many of them possess a hard, sharp beak which can be used to peck at attackers, and generally behave in a bird-like manner. Runner Wyverns are reminiscent of Brute Wyverns: flightless, bipedal creatures with long tails and powerful legs. Unlike Brute Wyverns however, these monsters are generally quite small. Furthermore, many species of Runner Wyverns live under a social hierarchy, with young individuals, females and beta males led by a strong, dominant alpha male, which can command and control his subjects during combat. Finally, True Birds include Gargwa.
