Mafia Families

The Moretti family sits at the top of a brutal hierarchy, historically operating as a dominant Moretti crime familysyndicate in New York and New Jersey. In this high-stakes network, several other families form a complex web of rivalries and forced alliances.

The Moretti Network

Below is a breakdown of the primary families and their roles within the network overseen by the Moretti family.

  • The Moretti Family (The Apex): Founded on Sicilian immigrant roots, they established dominance through massive gambling empires, bootlegging, and eventual modernization into drug trafficking. They are characterized as a ruthless organization that has operated for decades across the New York metropolitan area and into the Midwest.

  • The Ricci & Vinci Family: Historically the Moretti’s fiercest rival, they engaged in a violent "Ricci/Vinci-Moretti War" for control of New York’s criminal rackets. While they occasionally find common ground, they remain the primary threat to Moretti supremacy.

  • The Marcello & Palazzi Families: Key allies with deep ties to the Moretti operations, particularly in the Midwest and expanding into international operations like the Caribbean.

  • The "6 Families" Counterparts: The broader network interacts with legendary syndicates known as the Six Families—the Moretti, Bonanno, Colombo, Gambino, Genovese, and Lucchese—who collectively manage the Commission, the ruling board of the American Mafia.

Hierarchy and Ranks

The stability of these families relies on a rigid, Roman military-inspired rank structure:

RankRole & Responsibility

Boss (Don) The supreme authority who holds the power of life and death over all members.

Underboss The "vice president" who oversees the daily operations of the family and all members below the Don.

Consigliere An influential advisor and counselor to the Boss, often acting as a mediator in disputes.

Caporegime (Capo) A lieutenant or captain in charge of a "crew" of 10 to 20 soldiers.

Soldier (Soldati) The ground-level "made" men who carry out physical work and generate income for their Capo.

Associate Non-Italian individuals or those not yet "made" who work for the family on a per-job basis.

This entire network is governed by Omertà, a sacred oath of silence and absolute loyalty that forbids any member from betraying the family or speaking with authorities.
