Hero Missions
Hero Missions are the official classification system used by the @Heroes League of America (HLA) and the Hero Bureau to rank the difficulty, urgency, and global impact of operations. Each mission is assigned a rank from F through S, determining the threat level, expected casualties, and the type of heroes authorized to engage.
This system ensures missions are distributed according to hero capability, with higher-ranked events requiring specialized teams, government coordination, and even international response. While most missions are routine rescues or local disturbances, an S-Rank Mission can threaten the survival of nations—or the world itself.
F-Rank Missions – Routine and Civil Duty
Threat Level: Minimal
Description: Entry-level hero assignments handled by trainees, provisional license holders, or civic heroes. Tasks involve little to no danger and focus on developing responsibility, public trust, and emergency discipline.
Examples:
Neighborhood patrols and petty theft prevention
Assisting law enforcement with non-violent suspects
Helping during minor traffic or property accidents
Escorting civilians during minor Quirk disturbances
Authorized Heroes: YJSS and AHAO students, local heroes under supervision
E-Rank Missions – Minor Public Threats
Threat Level: Low
Description: Situations involving small-scale Quirk misuse or community-level danger. Missions may involve confrontation but rarely result in major injuries or destruction.
Examples:
Stopping low-level villains or unlicensed Vigilantes
Managing small Quirk fires, collapses, or malfunctions
Quirk malfunction containment (localized)
Protecting community events or small gatherings
Authorized Heroes: Graduated heroes with Standard Licenses, hero interns with instructor oversight
D-Rank Missions – Local Emergencies
Threat Level: Moderate
Description: Missions with higher combat or rescue risk, typically involving multiple villains or high-risk civilians. Collateral damage is possible, and teamwork is required.
Examples:
Bank robberies involving Quirk combat
Hostage rescues and building fires
Quirk-related riots or gang disputes
Urban search-and-rescue operations after small disasters
Authorized Heroes: Professional heroes, sidekicks, local guild squads
C-Rank Missions – Regional Threats
Threat Level: Serious
Description: Mid-tier hero operations requiring multiple agencies or guilds. Missions often span several districts and involve villains or disasters capable of mass destruction if unchecked.
Examples:
Mutant outbreaks or Trigger-related incidents
Villain organizations raiding city centers
Natural disasters amplified by Quirk interference
Corporate sabotage involving mass casualties
Authorized Heroes: Veteran heroes, guild teams, or small HLA task forces
B-Rank Missions – National Incidents
Threat Level: High
Description: Large-scale operations with potential to destabilize an entire city or region. These missions often involve organized villain syndicates, rogue guilds, or major technological and biological threats.
Examples:
Attacks on government or Hero Bureau facilities
Mass villain uprisings or terror operations
Weaponized Quirk experiments or military crises
Large-scale evacuations and counter-insurgency actions
Authorized Heroes: Elite guild teams, military-licensed heroes, national defense units
A-Rank Missions – Catastrophic Threats
Threat Level: Critical
Description: Events that endanger entire nations or require global attention. These missions demand cooperation between hero guilds, law enforcement, and even foreign governments.
Examples:
Attacks by high-level villain alliances
Quirk weapons capable of mass death
Interdimensional or extraterrestrial incursions
Mass panic or regime-collapse scenarios
Authorized Heroes: National heroes, master-ranked teams, Hero Bureau strike divisions
S-Rank Missions – World-Ending Events
Threat Level: Existential
Description: The highest possible classification. S-Rank Missions involve apocalyptic-level threats—events capable of erasing nations, continents, or all life. These missions trigger Omega Protocol, mobilizing every major hero guild, military force, and international defense organization. Few S-Rank operations are ever fully documented; those that are remain burned into history.
Examples:
Alien invasions (Pi incursions or planetary mutation events)
Cataclysmic Quirk eruptions or energy anomalies
Dimensional rifts destabilizing space-time
Supervillains capable of planetary destruction
Civilizations or factions threatening human extinction
Authorized Heroes: Global-class heroes, top guilds, international coalitions, and legendary units such as the World Defense Heroes Command (WDHC)
Mission Assignment Process
Every mission is reviewed by the Hero Bureau’s Risk Evaluation Division, which considers:
Estimated casualty and destruction probability
Power rating of known villains or entities
Quirk escalation potential
Required team composition and response time
Once ranked, missions are transmitted to regional hero guilds and broadcast to eligible teams through the HeroNet Operations Grid, ensuring rapid deployment.
