Hero Work Program (United States Heroic Service Initiative)

In the @United States Of America, heroism begins long before graduation. Under the guidance of the @Heroes League of America, both the @American Hero Academies Organization (AHAO) and @National Collegiate Quirk Association (NCQA) participate in the Hero Work Program — a national initiative designed to merge education with real-world service.

The program allows advanced students and rare young prodigies to act as licensed sidekicks, joining professional heroes in operations ranging from crime suppression to disaster relief.

Purpose and Design

The Hero Work Program exists to prepare the next generation of heroes through hands-on experience, civic duty, and mentorship.
Where the classroom ends, the field begins.

It bridges theory with reality — giving students firsthand exposure to the responsibilities, dangers, and decisions that define professional heroism.

AHAO Hero Work (High School Division)

Students from @American Hero Academies Organization (AHAO) who earn their @Provisional Hero License are officially eligible to enroll in Hero Work Rotations during their third and fourth academic years.

These rotations last from two to six months, pairing students with registered Pro Heroes or local Guild branches.

Common Hero Work Assignments Include:

  • Urban patrol assistance alongside city Guild heroes

  • Search-and-rescue drills under the Rescue Division

  • Medical support and Quirk containment training

  • Civilian evacuation management during disasters

  • Tactical communication and surveillance operations

Each student’s performance is evaluated by their mentor hero and submitted directly to the Heroic Education Board, influencing their final graduation ranking and Guild recommendations.

YJSS Hero Work (Middle School Division)

While most students are still in training, the rare few who demonstrate exceptional Quirk mastery or emotional maturity may be invited to join the Junior Hero Program, a specialized sidekick division monitored by both @American Hero Academies Organization (AHAO) and @Heroes League of America officials.

Known as “Hero Cadets,” these students accompany licensed heroes during low-risk missions such as:

  • Fire containment and civilian guidance

  • Support roles in small-scale rescue zones

  • Training simulations in controlled villain scenarios

  • Post-incident recovery and humanitarian assistance

These students are rare but celebrated — living proof that even the smallest hands can lift great burdens.

Sidekick Operations and Mentorship

Every sidekick in the Hero Work Program is matched with a licensed Pro Hero Mentor, chosen for their compatible Quirk type, temperament, and teaching ability.

Mentors are required to:

  • Supervise all fieldwork directly

  • Conduct post-operation debriefings

  • Provide ethics and stress management guidance

  • File progress reports to the Hero Training Bureau

Many of today’s top-ranked heroes — including Guildmasters and NCQA champions — began as sidekicks through this very program.

Heroic Service Calls

During national emergencies or large-scale crises, AHAO and HLA authorize Heroic Service Calls, a temporary mobilization allowing upperclass students and qualified prodigies to aid professional heroes.

These operations may include:

  • Natural disaster response (earthquakes, floods, wildfires)

  • Civilian protection during villain rampages

  • Emergency aid coordination and evacuation

  • Support for medical heroes and first responders

Participation in a Heroic Service Call is considered the highest honor a student hero can achieve before graduation. Those who answer the call earn the @Medal of Rising Valor , awarded by their regional Hero Guild.
