Highforge Keep

Fortress of the Iron Banner

Highforge Keep stands among the most formidable strongholds in all of Mythea. Perched atop a massive granite hill overlooking the fertile heartlands of Vhal'Tor, its black stone walls have watched over the kingdom for centuries. To friend and foe alike, Highforge is a symbol of strength, discipline, and unwavering resolve.

Unlike the Throne Bastion in the capital, which serves as the center of imperial governance, Highforge Keep exists for one purpose: the defense and security of the realm.

The fortress serves as the fortified headquarters of the Iron Banner, the kingdom's elite military order, and the seat of power for the Sovereign Chain. From its war rooms, barracks, and command halls, the leaders of Vhal'Tor coordinate military campaigns, border defense, intelligence operations, and the protection of the kingdom's interests.

Highforge is also the residence of Lord Marshal Garrick Ashford, commander of the Iron Banner and one of the most respected military leaders in Mythea.

Appearance

Highforge Keep is constructed from dark granite quarried from the Worldspine Mountains. Massive curtain walls surround the fortress, reinforced by towering battlements, heavily fortified gatehouses, and imposing watchtowers visible for miles across the surrounding countryside.

Crimson and gold banners bearing the sigil of the Iron Banner fly from every tower.

The fortress dominates the landscape, rising above rolling farmland, forests, and trade roads that stretch across the kingdom's heartland. At night, hundreds of lanterns illuminate the walls, making Highforge appear as a crown of fire atop the hill.

Many travelers claim they feel safer the moment the fortress comes into view.

Purpose

Highforge serves several critical functions:

  • Headquarters of the Iron Banner

  • Seat of the Sovereign Chain

No military campaign of significance is launched without Highforge's involvement.
