Secret Societies and Hidden Orders of Mythea

Throughout Mythea, beneath the banners of kingdoms and the influence of great factions, countless secret societies pursue their own agendas.

Some preserve forgotten knowledge.

Some seek power.

Some protect ancient truths.

Others pursue goals so obscure that even their members may not fully understand them.

Most people never encounter these organizations directly.

Yet their influence can be found almost everywhere.

The Cult of the Black Star

Associated Deity: The Veiled Depth

Perhaps the most feared secret society in Mythea.

The Cult of the Black Star believes that the mysterious Black Star beyond creation contains the ultimate truth.

Members seek forbidden knowledge at any cost.

They actively collect ancient texts, lost relics, and dangerous magical artifacts.

The Cult is highly fragmented.

Individual cells often operate independently.

Some pursue scholarship.

Others descend into fanaticism.

No one knows how large the organization truly is.

The Keepers of the Seventh Door

Associated Deities: Vorathys and Vespera

The Keepers search for the legendary Seventh Door of the Endless Wild.

Unlike other seekers, they believe the Seventh Door is not a location.

It is a state of understanding.

Members often travel the world pursuing experiences rather than wealth.

Many become adventurers, artists, philosophers, or wanderers.

Some claim those who find the Seventh Door never return.

Others claim they were never truly gone.

The Veiled Lantern Society

Associated Deities: Elysir and The Veiled Depth

The Veiled Lantern Society was founded by scholars who believed knowledge should neither be hidden nor recklessly revealed.

Its members investigate mysteries, recover dangerous artifacts, and study unusual phenomena.

Many Lantern Collegium scholars secretly belong to the organization.

Their existence is publicly denied.

Their influence is widely suspected.

The Children of the Hollow Purse

Associated Deity: The Hollow Purse

The Children of the Hollow Purse are a loose network of financiers, merchants, criminals, and opportunists.

They believe wealth is the only true form of power.

Unlike traditional thieves, they rarely steal directly.

Instead they manipulate debts, contracts, investments, and political favors.

Many economic disasters throughout history have been attributed to their actions.

No proof has ever surfaced.

The Crimson Court

Associated Deity: The Velvet King

The Crimson Court operates primarily among nobles and political elites.

Membership is invitation only.

The organization teaches that exceptional individuals deserve exceptional privileges.

Members assist one another in pursuing wealth, influence, and status.

Officially the organization does not exist.

Unofficially many rulers fear its influence.

The Thorned Circle

Associated Deity: The Thorn Bride

The Thorned Circle studies the nature of attachment and obsession.

Many members begin with noble intentions.

Few remain unchanged.

The Circle often appears during times of political instability, romantic scandal, or family conflict.

Its teachings emphasize control disguised as devotion.

Authorities monitor the group closely.

The Feast Eternal

Associated Deity: The Red Harvest

The Feast Eternal believes civilization has become obsessed with restraint.

Its members encourage indulgence in all forms.

Most gatherings appear harmless.

Lavish feasts.

Grand celebrations.

Public festivals.

Yet some chapters have been linked to dangerous excesses and strange disappearances.

Many communities tolerate them.

Few fully trust them.

The Ashen Circle

Associated Deity: The Ashen Hand

The Ashen Circle studies the rise and fall of civilizations.

Its members believe all things eventually end.

Rather than resisting this truth, they seek to understand it.

The organization attracts philosophers, historians, and archaeologists.

Many outsiders find their beliefs unsettling.

Yet the Circle has preserved vast amounts of historical knowledge.

The Silent Garden

Associated Deity: Thalorien

The Silent Garden protects locations believed to be sacred to the natural world.

Members often operate as druids, healers, scouts, and guardians.

The organization rarely seeks attention.

Many people are unaware it exists.

Despite this, countless sacred groves throughout Mythea remain protected because of their efforts.

The Silver Concord

Associated Deity: Seleneva

The Silver Concord is a secretive network dedicated to preventing wars before they begin.

Its members include diplomats, mediators, merchants, priests, and spies.

Many conflicts have ended before reaching open violence due to their interventions.

Few people realize how often they influence events.

The Concord prefers anonymity.

Success means no one notices their work.

The Last Hammer Society

Associated Deity: Khaldur

The Last Hammer Society searches for lost Masterworks and forgotten creations.

Members include master craftsmen, treasure hunters, engineers, and adventurers.

Recovering a lost Masterwork is considered one of the greatest achievements possible.

The Society has financed countless expeditions into ancient ruins.

The Crownless Fellowship

Associated Deity: Aureth

The Crownless Fellowship believes true leadership requires humility.

Members often serve anonymously as advisors, teachers, and public servants.

Some legends claim the mysterious Crownless King founded the organization personally.

Whether this is true remains unknown.

Signs of Membership

Secret societies rarely identify themselves openly.

Instead they often use:

  • Rings

  • Brooches

  • Tattoos

  • Phrases

  • Symbols

  • Hand signs

  • Written codes

Most members can recognize one another without revealing their affiliation publicly.

Hidden Agendas

Not all secret societies are villains.

Not all are heroes.

Most believe they are acting for the greater good.

Their goals often conflict.

Their methods often overlap.

Adventurers may find themselves working with one society while unknowingly opposing another.

The Secret War

Many scholars believe a hidden struggle has shaped Mythea for centuries.

Not a war of armies.

Not a war of kingdoms.

A war of ideas.

Knowledge versus secrecy.

Service versus ambition.

Growth versus excess.

Connection versus possession.

This conflict mirrors the struggles of the Celestial Courts themselves.

Most people never notice it.

Yet its influence can be found throughout history.

Those who look closely begin to see its signs everywhere.

And once seen, they become impossible to ignore.
