Name
The Galactic Accord
Type
Interstellar Government
Description
The Galactic Accord is the largest diplomatic organization in explored space, established during the Reconstruction Era following the Collapse Wars to prevent another civilization-ending conflict. Rather than functioning as a galactic government, the Accord serves as a neutral council where sovereign civilizations, planetary governments, corporations, and recognized independent powers negotiate disputes, establish trade agreements, regulate Hyperlane travel, and coordinate responses to existential threats.
Membership includes Human Coalition representatives, Xylos delegates, Yautja observers, Tenno envoys, Android Commonwealth ambassadors, Synth Consensus representatives, Bio-Construct councils, Drifter Fleet Speakers, Weaver Circles, and numerous colonial governments. Every recognized civilization retains complete sovereignty while agreeing to respect Accord law within shared territory and interstellar space.
The Accord possesses no standing military. Instead, member civilizations contribute peacekeeping forces during emergencies. These joint operations are deployed only through overwhelming council approval and exist primarily to combat galaxy-wide threats including Xenomorph infestations, rogue Precursor Constructs, Hyperlane instability, and Void catastrophes.
Its headquarters, known simply as Concord Station, orbits a neutral system beyond the authority of any single civilization. Every hall, chamber, and diplomatic district is protected by some of the strictest neutrality laws ever written.
Although criticized for slow decision making, the Galactic Accord has successfully prevented open war between major civilizations for nearly two centuries, making it one of the most influential institutions in known space.
