The Corporate Council is a permanent assembly composed of the largest megacorporations operating throughout explored space. Though lacking formal governmental authority over sovereign worlds, its economic influence rivals that of entire civilizations. Through ownership of shipyards, orbital industries, research facilities, manufacturing worlds, banking systems, communications networks, and transportation infrastructure, the Council indirectly shapes the daily lives of billions.
Each corporation competes fiercely for contracts, resources, and technological breakthroughs while recognizing that open conflict would threaten collective prosperity. Corporate rivalries are therefore fought through espionage, acquisitions, proxy conflicts, economic sanctions, and technological competition rather than conventional warfare.
Many colonies depend almost entirely upon Corporate Council infrastructure, creating constant political tension between economic necessity and governmental independence.
