Sol System

THE SOL SYSTEM

Humanity no longer belongs to a single world.

Centuries of technological advancement, corporate expansion, and Precursor discoveries transformed the Sol System into a vast web of colonies, orbital habitats, industrial worlds, military strongholds, and forgotten frontiers. While Earth remains humanity's birthplace, it is no longer its unquestioned center. Power is divided between corporate alliances, independent colonies, Nomad fleets, military coalitions, and isolated frontier settlements, each pursuing its own future beneath the same sun.

Travel throughout the system is routine. Fusion-powered spacecraft, orbital elevators, magnetic launch systems, and Precursor-enhanced jump drives allow people, cargo, and military fleets to move between worlds in days rather than months. Countless civilian transports, merchant convoys, exploration vessels, warships, and smugglers continuously traverse established shipping lanes connecting every inhabited world.

Earth remains the political and economic heart of humanity. Towering arcologies dominate much of its surface while enormous orbital rings surround the planet. New Echelon stands among Earth's greatest independent megacities—a sprawling metropolis built upon countless generations of expansion, reconstruction, and forgotten infrastructure. Beneath its streets lie entire civilizations lost to history.

Luna serves as humanity's military headquarters. Vast underground fortresses, orbital shipyards, officer academies, and fleet command centers cover its surface. Many Designation operatives, Warframe Operators, and elite military personnel receive advanced training within Lunar installations before deployment across the system.

Mars has become the industrial engine of civilization. Terraforming efforts continue across its deserts while massive automated foundries manufacture spacecraft, Warframes, armored vehicles, robotics, and advanced military hardware. Entire mountain ranges have been hollowed into production complexes operated by corporations and autonomous machine labor.

The Asteroid Belt has evolved into the largest mining region in human history. Thousands of independent stations harvest rare metals, Precursor alloys, and exotic resources from drifting asteroids. Pirate fleets, smugglers, salvagers, and corporate security forces constantly compete for control of valuable claims hidden among the rocks.

Jupiter dominates the outer system with dozens of inhabited moons. Enormous orbital refineries float within its upper atmosphere while research stations study its violent storms. Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto each support thriving colonies dedicated to scientific research, heavy industry, and military logistics.

Saturn's colonies specialize in deep-space shipbuilding and fleet maintenance. Gigantic Fleet Forge Shipyards orbit several moons, constructing vessels too large to ever land on a planetary surface. Some of humanity's largest warships are assembled entirely within Saturn's orbital docks.

Beyond Saturn lies the Frontier.

The outer worlds are harsh, isolated, and unpredictable. Independent settlements, Nomad flotillas, deep-space explorers, relic hunters, and forgotten research stations survive far beyond the reach of centralized authority. Ancient Precursor ruins drift through the darkness between worlds, while abandoned military installations continue broadcasting automated distress signals centuries after their crews vanished.

Throughout the system, countless orbital habitats provide homes for millions. Cylindrical space colonies, rotating research stations, commercial trade hubs, prison complexes, listening posts, and independent ports fill the void between planets. Many exist beyond any single government's jurisdiction, creating opportunities for smugglers, mercenaries, bounty hunters, and adventurers alike.

Humanity is not alone.

Yautja hunting vessels silently enter and leave the system without warning, pursuing worthy prey before disappearing once more into deep space. Xenomorph infestations have been discovered aboard derelict freighters, abandoned colonies, and forgotten military outposts, prompting immediate quarantine protocols whenever sightings occur. Precursor Constructs continue awakening across the system, carrying fragmented memories of a civilization that predates humanity by untold millennia.

The Void remains the greatest mystery.

Strange Fractures occasionally appear throughout the system, distorting space, time, gravity, and reality itself. Entire expeditions vanish beyond these anomalies, while those that return often bring impossible technology—or impossible stories. Voidwalkers dedicate their lives to studying these phenomena, believing they are remnants of something ancient that still watches from beyond known space.

Despite its immense size, the Sol System remains deeply interconnected. Trade flows constantly between worlds, fleets patrol established routes, explorers push beyond mapped space, corporations compete for ancient technology, and ordinary people struggle to build meaningful lives beneath distant suns.

For most citizens, the Sol System is home.

For adventurers, it is only the beginning.
