Evolution
Xenomorphs continuously evolve through experience. At milestone levels, major story events, or the Game Master's discretion, choose one Evolution from the Xenomorph Evolution list. Physical changes accompany every Evolution and permanently alter your appearance and capabilities.
XENOMORPH EVOLUTION
Xenomorphs are not static organisms. Every individual continuously adapts throughout its life, altering its body in response to combat, environmental pressures, prey, and survival. While all Xenomorphs share the same fundamental biology, no two mature specimens are truly identical.
Independent Xenomorphs, those separated from a Hive or born outside one, evolve even more unpredictably. Without the guidance of a Queen, their instincts drive them toward personal adaptation rather than strict biological roles.
As an Independent Xenomorph gains experience, survives powerful enemies, discovers ancient biotechnology, or overcomes extraordinary challenges, it undergoes permanent biological mutations known as Evolutions.
Each Evolution permanently changes both appearance and abilities. Armor may thicken into reinforced plating, tails may lengthen into specialized weapons, sensory organs may become more refined, or acidic glands may grow increasingly potent. Every mutation reflects the experiences that shaped the individual.
No two veteran Xenomorphs should evolve identically.
The Game Master should award Evolutions after significant story milestones, major boss victories, prolonged survival, exceptional roleplaying, or other meaningful accomplishments rather than automatically at specific levels.
Evolution should always be visible. Whenever a Xenomorph gains an Evolution, describe the physical transformation in detail so the creature gradually becomes a unique apex organism forged by its own experiences.
As Evolutions accumulate, a Xenomorph may eventually advance beyond the Drone stage into more specialized biological forms such as Warrior, Praetorian, or, under exceptionally rare circumstances, a Queen or King. These transformations should occur only through major narrative milestones and at the Game Master's discretion.
Every Evolution represents permanent biological growth. Once gained, an Evolution cannot normally be removed or replaced.
