This guide gives general tips that will help you play games in friends and fables, to get the most out of them.
1) Always use the menu on the top right to add characters to the party asap, as only ones shown there will gain XP. You can click on their names or on their pictures in the combat turn order to bring up their profile which has an 'Add to Party' option.
2) Franz Quest steps are not single steps, but waypoints on the quest journey. Franz may make you perform multiple actions to progress a quest, before actually completing a quest step and moving on. Don't panic as long as the quest seems to be going in the right direction. There is also a slight delay in updating the bar on the right, so make a move or two after completing a quest to see if Franz catches up.
3) Its best not to move on quest steps manually, but to encourage the system to move them on. If you manually move them on you will miss any rewards due for completing that step. If you try to manually move on the last step, you can end up with a completed quest that will never close down as complete. Good Command options are;
- "Review Quest Progress (quest step name)"
- Update Quest Step : "name of step, as I have completed action XYZ"
- Check the quest progress options and try tying variations using the words provided. So if the quest step is 'Steal from Dave', typing "Having stolen the required item from Dave we will look to our next steps."
4) Quest steps will only progress if you are in the right location. Because Franz also does narrative Quests without the 'Quest Step - Mechanism' it will sometime get ahead of itself. Thus it may tell you, you have arrived at 'The Church' and ask if you want to search, when the map on the right clearly shows you are still in the wilderness. I would suggest doing something like saying "Enter The Church so we can take a look around", to give Franz the opportunity to update your location.
