Harrowsil Junction

@Harrowsil Junction

Status: Independent Scavenger Enclave & Trade Hub
Location: Freight Relay Wedge, Tidemark Sector
Established: 2069 (Stabilized Trade Node)
Population: ~220–300 Permanent Residents (Fluctuating Workforce)

Faction Overview

Harrowsil Junction is a hardened salvage aggregation enclave positioned on a wedge of dry ground between two shallow flood corridors in the Tidemark.

It occupies a pre-Fall freight relay depot that survived the coastal pump failures of 2062. Unlike rooftop enclaves or floating dock settlements, Harrowsil sits on reinforced concrete foundations built for industrial load — foundations that refused to sink.

Harrowsil does not reclaim territory.
It does not fortify for ideology.
It does not expand outward in campaigns.

Harrowsil moves weight.

For thirty years, it has functioned as one of the primary inland-to-coastal salvage transfer points in the outer city — not because it is powerful, but because it is efficient.

Origins (2062–2069)

Before the Fall, the site served as a freight sorting and relay station feeding cargo toward the old harbor districts. Heavy-load cranes, reinforced platforms, and sealed foundation pylons made it structurally overbuilt for its location.

When flood systems failed and surrounding districts destabilized, the depot remained dry while nearby blocks partially submerged.

Early attempts at settlement between 2063–2067 were chaotic. Crews overextended into unstable inland zones. Salvage disputes turned violent. Two early enclaves collapsed due to poor route discipline and internal conflict.

The group that ultimately stabilized Harrowsil adopted a different model:

Secure the depot perimeter first
Limit growth to sustainable throughput
Centralize salvage processing
Establish direct trade ties to the Freedocks
Never stockpile beyond transport capacity

By 2069, Harrowsil was no longer a desperate holdout.

It was a functioning trade spine.

Structure & Layout

Harrowsil Junction retains the skeletal form of its freight depot origin.

The exterior is layered rather than uniform:

Stacked cargo containers form defensive corridors
Welded ship hull plates seal old loading bays
Concrete road dividers reinforce vehicle gates
Stripped chassis frames brace weak angles
Razor mesh threads through exposed rebar

Entry funnels through a reinforced choke corridor built from transit gates and container walls. There is no wide-open approach.

Floodlights are mounted low and angled inward, illuminating the yard without broadcasting outward. Exposed power lines feed jury-rigged transformers that hum unevenly after dark.

Interior spaces are functional:

Salvage sorting yard
Heavy crane rails (partially operational)
Steel stockpiles
Component crates
Fuel cell racks
Drone repair stations

Upper-level catwalks ring the interior walls, where watchers oversee both salvage activity and perimeter stability.

Sleeping quarters are steel-partitioned and modular. No decorative effort is made.

Harrowsil is assembled for endurance, not aesthetics.

Core Function

Harrowsil exists to aggregate and move salvage.

Inland crews operate in controlled windows, extracting:

Industrial steel
Transit components
Machine cores
Heavy wiring
Pre-Fall infrastructure hardware
Cracked processors and motor assemblies

All material routes back to Harrowsil.

From there, freight transfers to the Freedocks via:

Armored truck convoys during dry migration corridors
Shallow-draft transport skiffs during tide-stable windows

In exchange, Harrowsil receives:

Marine-grade weapons and hardware
Fuel cells and battery arrays
Ammunition
Drone components
Sealed ration blocks
Heavy cutting tools

Trade is direct.

Freedock captains value consistency.

Harrowsil values punctual payment.

Core Infrastructure

Harrowsil’s survival is system-based, not militaristic.

Power Systems:
Hybrid generator grid supplemented by scavenged solar panels. Power is prioritized for cranes, route boards, and perimeter systems.

Route Board:
A patched multi-screen digital board lists active salvage corridors, tide windows, hazard alerts, and confirmed Tyrant proximity shifts.

Transit Staging:
Loads are organized by transfer schedule. No cargo sits unassigned longer than necessary.

Evacuation Protocol:
Critical salvage and fuel are pre-marked for rapid extraction if breach becomes inevitable.

Harrowsil is built to move under pressure.

Governance & Culture

Harrowsil has no permanent ruler.

Leadership rotates among senior route-runners — individuals who have survived multiple inland pushes and demonstrated disciplined risk calibration.

Authority is earned through:

Survival rates
Route accuracy
Cargo retention percentages
Crew return ratios

There are no political councils.

There are logistics briefings.

Core rules are blunt:

Pull your weight
Do not hoard
Do not escalate conflict inside the perimeter
Do not compromise the route board

Anyone who endangers throughput does not remain.

Culture is pragmatic and direct. Humor exists, but sentimentality does not.

Children raised here learn tool use before theory.

Roles Within the Junction

Salvage Cutters
Strip structural steel and heavy components inland.

Structural Riggers
Assess collapse risk and stabilize extraction zones.

Drone Technicians
Maintain route scouts and short-range recon units.

Dock Runners
Coordinate timing with Freedock vessels and convoy escorts.

Gate Watchers
Maintain choke corridor control and perimeter rotation.

Every adult trains for breach scenarios.

Redundancy prevents collapse.

Defensive Philosophy

Harrowsil does not posture as a fortress.

It maintains layered resistance long enough to withdraw value.

Defense relies on:

Choke corridor geometry
Layered barricades
Controlled lighting
Rapid lockdown capability
Armed overwatch from interior catwalks

Weapons are visible but functional:

Ares-pattern rifles
Modified shotguns
Heavy cutting torches
Limited mounted positions at entry funnel

If overwhelmed, Harrowsil holds long enough to extract critical stock.

Then it shifts.

Trade & External Relations

Primary Trade Partner: The Freedocks
Relationship: Stable, transactional, mutually beneficial

Harrowsil does not align politically with:

The Bastion
The Warborn
Caliburn

It trades with anyone who pays fairly and does not threaten route stability.

It avoids ideological entanglement.

It prefers predictable partners.

Reputation (2092)

Among outer districts, Harrowsil Junction is regarded as:

Dependable
Blunt
Unromantic
Difficult to intimidate

To the Freedocks, it is reliable freight mass.

To inland scavengers, it is the last offload before flood and density close in.

To anyone considering testing it:

Harrowsil does not threaten.

It measures.

And it survives.
